Studies on the Metabolism of Thiourea Ii. the Metabolic Fate of Thiourea in the Thyroid Gland*

چکیده
Thiourea is the parent compound of a group of compounds known t.o have goitrogenic activity. These substances prevent the formation of organically bound iodine from iodide ion (l-6), but the mechanism of this action is unknown. ‘Paper I of this series (7) showed that when thiourea labeled with radioactive sulfur was administered to rats the concentration of radioactivity in the thyroid gland 24 hours later was 30 times as high as in any other tissue. The chemical nature of the radioactive sulfur in the gland, however, was not determined at that time. The experiments described in this report attempt to show that the sulfur of thiourea was oxidized to sulfate ion in the thyroid gland of the rat.

متن کاملTheoretical studies on corrosion inhibition of N-aroyl-N’-aryl thiourea derivatives using conceptual DFT approach
In this paper, quantum chemical parameters at density functional theory (DFT) B3LYP/6-31G** (d,p) level of theory were calculated for three organic corrosion inhibitors [N-benzoyl-N-(p-aminophenyl) thiourea, N-benzoyl-N-(thiazole) thiourea and N-acetyl-N-(dibenzyl) thiourea. The calculated molecular descriptors such as the HOMO, LUMO, dipole moment, chemical potential (μ), chemical hardness (ղ)...
متن کاملComparative Cyanide and Thiourea Extraction of Gold Based on Characterization Studies (TECHNICAL NOTE)
This study involved preliminary laboratory test work to identify the relative leaching response to cyanidation and thiourea leaching of an oxidized low grade gold ore based on characterization studies. Huge reserves of gold deposits have been reported from different parts of Iran, especially at Neishaboor area with gold grade of approx 4 ppm. For the mineralogical composition, the nature of the...

It has been reported that the decrease in weight of the submaxillary gland and the atrophy of the serous tubules were observed in thyroidectomized rat and these changes were recovered with the administration of thyroxine (Leblond et al., 1948), the administration of thiourea caused the atrophy of the tubular part of the submaxillary gland in rat and this response was probably due to the diminut...

Some N¬-acyl-N'-aryl thiourea derivatives 4(a-f) have been prepared by the reaction of acyl halides ammonium thiocyanate and aryl amines. The structures of synthesized compounds have been characterized by IR, 1HNMR spectral studies. The synthesized compounds 5(a-f) have been screened for antibacterial activity. The effect of the structure of the investigated compounds on the antibacterial activ...
