Storage Layout and I/O Performance Tuning for IBM® Red Brick® Data Warehouse
نویسنده
چکیده
Although Red Brick performance depends primarily on the logical database design, the placement and allocation of data files in the disk subsystem is another significant performance factor. There are many choices in the configuration and design of the physical database layout. This article reviews best practices propagated by storage and database vendors and presents measurements that compare storage layout alternatives for Red Brick. This leads to specific I/O configuration and tuning guidelines for IBM Red Brick Data Warehouse. This article assumes that the reader has basic knowledge of Red Brick Data Warehouse. Storage Layout and I/O Performance in Data Warehouses
Defining data placement and allocation in the disk subsystem can have a significant impact on data warehouse performance. However, our experiences with data warehouse implementations show that the database storage layout is often subject to vague or even invalid assumptions about I/O performance trade-offs. Clear guidelines for the assignment of database objects to disks are a very common reque...
متن کاملConcurrency in the Data Warehouse
When a data warehouse is loaded at night and queried during the day, there is no requirement for concurrent update and querying. However there are a number of situations where concurrency is needed: trickle feed applications, correcting exception data from the nightly load, the narrowing load window. The end point of the narrowing load window is a data warehouse that is available 7x24. Query Pr...
متن کاملEffect of Storage Conditions and Disinfection with 2% Deconex® on Dimensional Stability of Two Self-Cure Acrylic Resins
Background and Aim: There is a gap of information on the effect of time, disinfectant, and storage conditions on the dimensional stability of direct post patterns made of self-cure acrylic resins. This study assessed the effect of Deconex® and wet or dry stor-age conditions on the dimensional stability of post patterns made of Duralay and GC acrylic resins. Materials and Methods: Sixty spe...

GONG, ZHENHUAN. Multi-level Data Layout Optimization for Heterogeneous Access Patterns. (Under the direction of Dr. Nagiza F. Samatova.) Recent years have seen an enormous increase in computation power of leadership computing facilities. As a result, huge amounts of data, from terascale to petascale, are being produced by scientific applications running on supercomputers. However, the I/O subsy...
متن کاملP-95: Flow Cytometry Analysis of Bovine Semen:A Qualitative Study
Background: Although AI practices have been introduced little over 60 years, the success rate remains relatively low. This might be due to the exclusive selection of semen based on motility analysis. Recent advancement in sperm sexing using flow cytometry with an increased throughput from next generation cell sorters, made use of this technology in studding sperm qualitative aspects other than ...
