Agent-Mediated Interface Between Command Control Communications Computer and Intelligence (C4I) Systems and Simulation

چکیده
The ability to interface C4I systems with simulations represents a powerful approach for analyzing complex military plans, and generating appropriate courses of action. The simulations provide a context of the real world, in which the plan can be exercised, “what-if’s” can be performed, and intelligent courses of action can be generated. To build more “intelligence” in our ability to generate courses of action, we must be able to decompose plans from C4I systems, so that critical events and actions/consequence relationships can be understood. Through this understanding, we can begin to intelligently monitor how the execution of the plan may be deviating from the original simulated plan. This paper will describe technology development allowing High Level Architecture (HLA) Run Time Infrastructure (RTI)-based simulations to interact with grid-aware software agents, allowing those agents to intelligently decompose planning information from systems such the Global Command and Control SystemMaritime, or GCCS-M (HLA-enabled) and monitor critical events associated with those plans within simulations. This will lead to a better understanding of the important cause-effect relationships in plans and consequently a more effective generation of courses of action.

C4I to M&S interoperability is currently facilitated by software interfaces established between specific systems. The development of C4I to M&S interfaces has not been considered one of the primary design requirements for either type of system. This has led to systemic problems in using M&S systems to support C4I system testing, training & experimentation. The Army is addressing these interoper...
متن کاملA Near Real-Time Tactical Land C4I Assessment Capability
The tactical land command, control, communications, computer and intelligence structure is essentially an array of complex and dynamic systems of systems. In this paper we address a capability deficiency in the identification and analysis of critical information requirements, flows and processes to support decision-making within this tactical structure. We accomplish this by incorporating model...

The Department of Defense doctrine of “train as you would fight” exemplifies the military’s focus on training as a key component in the preparation of today’s warfighter. The positive result of implementing this doctrine has been clearly demonstrated. The costs of implementing training programs, however, have been high. Simulations have historically supported this training by augmenting and sup...
