Environmental Fate of Propargite

چکیده

Air: Propargite has very negligible vapor pressure (3.89 x 10 mmHg); therefore, it is not readily volatilized into the atmosphere. The low Henry’s law constant, <9.43 x 10 atmmg.mol at 25C, indicates that propargite is unlikely to volatilize into air from an aqueous solution (Lyman, et al., 1982). Aside from drift that is generated by spray applications, propargite is not expected to be found in air over a large area.

Pesticides for Apicultural and/or Agricultural Application Found in Belgian Honey Bee Wax Combs

In a Belgian pilot study honey bee wax combs from ten hives were analyzed on the presence of almost 300 organochlorine and organophosphorous compounds by LC-MS/MS and GC-MS/MS. Traces of 18 pesticides were found and not a single sample was free of residues. The number of residues found per sample ranged from 3 to 13, and the pesticides found could be categorized as (1) pesticides for solely api...

Toxicity of Sediment-Associated Pesticides to Chironomus dilutus and Hyalella azteca

Two hundred sediment samples were collected and their toxicity evaluated to aquatic species in a previous study in the agriculturally dominated Central Valley of California, United States. Pyrethroid insecticides were the main contributors to the observed toxicity. However, mortality in approximately one third of the toxic samples could not be explained solely by the presence of pyrethroids in ...

Comparative Sensitivity of Eight Freshwater Phytoplankton Species to Isoprocarb, Propargite, Flumetralin and Propiconazol

This work compared the sensitivity of three cyanobacteria (Anabaena flos-aquae, Microcystis flosaquae and Mirocystis aeruginosa) as well as five green algae (Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, Scenedesmus quadricauda, Scenedesmus obliquus, Chlorella vulgaris and Chlorella pyrenoidosa) to four pesticides through 96h short-term chronic tests. The results showed that the toxicity of the pesticides t...

Well-Water Consumption and Parkinson’s Disease in Rural California

INTRODUCTION Investigators have hypothesized that consuming pesticide-contaminated well water plays a role in Parkinson's disease (PD), and several previous epidemiologic studies support this hypothesis. OBJECTIVES We investigated whether consuming water from private wells located in areas with documented historical pesticide use was associated with an increased risk of PD. METHODS We emplo...

Linkage of the California Pesticide Use Reporting Database with Spatial Land Use Data for Exposure Assessment

BACKGROUND The State of California maintains a comprehensive Pesticide Use Reporting Database (CPUR). The California Department of Water Resources (CDWR) maps all crops in agricultural counties in California about once every 5 years. OBJECTIVE We integrated crop maps with CPUR to more accurately locate where pesticides are applied and evaluated the effects for exposure assessment. METHODS W...
