Whole body TOF mouse magnetic resonance angiography

چکیده
Introduction : Cardiovascular diseases, such as atherosclerosis, can induce the development of stenosis. These can become critical in pathologies such as coronary heart diseases and necessitate a surgical intervention. A whole body angiography is therefore required to localize stenosis at risk and to target interventions. First-pass magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) on humans provides a non-invasive visualization of blood flow with good contrast between vessels and tissues using Gadolinium contrast agent [1]. However first-pass MRA are hardly used on small animals [2]. Nowadays, time-offlight (TOF)-MRA is limited to small fields-of-view (FOV) because of its long acquisition times. The aim of this study was also to develop a fast TOF-MRA technique able to get the full angiogram of mouse body with good contrast within reasonable acquisition times. After implementation, this method has been applied to detect and study stenosis on pathologic mouse models.

Magnetic resonance angiography of the mouse cerebrovascular system at 17.6 T
Introduction Many neurodegenerative diseases including Alzheimer’s disease are linked to abnormalities in vascular system. Visualization of the changes in vascular structure is important for early diagnosis and treatment. Blood vessels can be imaged non-invasively by magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) [1]. In this technique shortening of the effective T1 of moving blood provides the vessel co...
متن کاملMagnetic Resonance Angiography in the Diagnosis of Cerebral Arteriovenous Malformation and Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas: Comparison of Time-Resolved Magnetic Resonance Angiography and Three Dimensional Time-of-Flight Magnetic Resonance Angiography
BACKGROUND Traditional digital subtraction angiography (DSA) is currently the gold standard diagnostic method for the diagnosis and evaluation of cerebral arteriovenous malformation (AVM) and dural arteriovenous fistulas (dAVF). OBJECTIVES The aim of this study was to analyze different less invasive magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) images, time-resolved MRA (TR-MRA) and three-dimensional ...
متن کاملTOF-MRA using multi-oblique-stack acquisition (MOSA).
PURPOSE To alleviate the intrinsic limitation of current time-of-flight magnetic resonance angiography (TOF-MRA) techniques, which are insensitive to in-plane blood flow due to the flow saturation effect. MATERIALS AND METHODS A multi-oblique-stack acquisition (MOSA) technique was proposed in this study to tackle this TOF problem by acquiring two or more TOF image stacks bearing different ori...
متن کاملEvaluation of Intracranial Dural Arteriovenous Fistulas: Comparison of Unenhanced 3T 3D Time-of-flight MR Angiography with Digital Subtraction Angiography.
PURPOSE We compared gross characterization of intracranial dural arteriovenous fistulas (DAVFs) between unenhanced 3-tesla 3-dimensional (3D) time-of-flight (TOF) magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) and digital subtraction angiography (DSA). METHODS We subjected 26 consecutive patients with intracranial DAVF to unenhanced 3T 3D TOF MRA and to DSA. Two independent sets of observers inspected ...
متن کاملBlood Flow Simulation in an Aorta with a mild coarctation Using Magnetic Resonance Angiography and Finite Volume Method
Coarctation of the aorta is one of the five main congenital cardiovascular failures, accounting for 6–8 percent of these failures. This research aimed to simulate the blood flow of a seventeen-year-old male teen with a mild coarctation at one-third of his aorta's descending branch. The simulation was performed by extracting the domain and the input pulsatile velocity signal as the boundary cond...
