A Unifying Contrast Maximization Framework for Event Cameras, with Applications to Motion, Depth, and Optical Flow Estimation

چکیده
We present a unifying framework to solve several computer vision problems with event cameras: motion, depth and optical flow estimation. The main idea of our framework is to find the point trajectories on the image plane that are best aligned with the event data by maximizing an objective function: the contrast of an image of warped events. Our method implicitly handles data association between the events, and therefore, does not rely on additional appearance information about the scene. In addition to accurately recovering the motion parameters of the problem, our framework produces motion-corrected edge-like images with high dynamic range that can be used for further scene analysis. The proposed method is not only simple, but more importantly, it is, to the best of our knowledge, the first method that can be successfully applied to such a diverse set of important vision tasks with event cameras.

Event-Based 3D Motion Flow Estimation Using 4D Spatio Temporal Subspaces Properties
State of the art scene flow estimation techniques are based on projections of the 3D motion on image using luminance-sampled at the frame rate of the cameras-as the principal source of information. We introduce in this paper a pure time based approach to estimate the flow from 3D point clouds primarily output by neuromorphic event-based stereo camera rigs, or by any existing 3D depth sensor eve...

Oceanographic images obtained from environmental satellites by a wide range of sensors allow characterizing natural phenomena through different physical measurements. For instance Sea Surface Temperature (SST) images, altimetry data and ocean color data can be used for characterizing currents and vortex structures in the ocean. The purpose of this thesis is to derive a relatively complete frame...
متن کاملDepth Recovery from Unsynchronized Video Streams
Dynamic depth recovery from unsynchronized video streams is an open problem. In this paper, we propose a novel framework for estimating dense depth information of dynamic scenes using multiple video streams captured from unsynchronized stationary cameras. The main idea is to convert the unsynchronized depth computation problem to the traditional synchronized depth computation problem in which m...
متن کاملCoded Aperture Flow
Real cameras have a limited depth of field. The resulting defocus blur is a valuable cue for estimating the depth structure of a scene. Using coded apertures, depth can be estimated from a single frame. For optical flow estimation between frames, however, the depth dependent degradation can introduce errors. These errors are most prominent when objects move relative to the focal plane of the ca...
متن کاملDiverging viewing-lines in binocular vision: A method for estimating ego motion by mounted active cameras
We exploit the framework of diverging viewing-lines where cameras do not share the common field of view, and propose a method for incrementally estimating ego motion using two mounted active cameras. Our method independently controls the two cameras so that each camera automatically fixates its optical axis to its own fixation point. This camera control allows diverging viewing-lines of the two...
