Relating spectral indices to tensor and scalar amplitudes in inflation.

چکیده
Within an expansion in slow-roll in ation parameters, we derive secondorder expressions relating the ratio of tensor to scalar density perturbations and the spectral index of the scalar spectrum. We nd that \corrections" to previously derived formulae can dominate if the tensor to scalar ratio is small. For instance, if V V 00=(V ) 6= 1 or if mP l=(4 ) jV 000=V j > 1, where V ( ) is the in aton potential and mP l is the Plank mass, then the previously used simple relations between the indices and the tensor to scalar ratio fails. This failure occurs in particular for natural in ation, Coleman-Weinberg in ation, and \chaotic" in ation.

We present a new approximation scheme that allows us to increase the accuracy of analytical predictions of the power spectra of inflationary perturbations for two specific classes of inflationary models. Among these models are chaotic inflation with a monomial potential, power-law inflation and natural inflation (inflation at a maximum). After reviewing the established first order results we ca...

متن کاملCosmological Density Perturbations From A Quantum Gravitational Model Of Inflation
We derive the implications for anisotropies in the cosmic microwave background following from a model of inflation in which a bare cosmological constant is gradually screened by an infrared process in quantum gravity. The model predicts that the amplitude of scalar perturbations is AS = (2.0± .2)× 10−5, that the tensor-to-scalar ratio is r ≈ 1.7× 10−3, and that the scalar and tensor spectral in...
متن کاملProduction of scalar and tensor perturbations in inflationary models.
Scalar (density) and tensor (gravity-wave) perturbations provide the basis for the fundamental observable consequences of inflation, including CBR anisotropy and the fluctuations that seed structure formation. In general, these perturbations are nearly scale invariant (Harrison-Zel’dovich spectrum), though slight deviation from scale invariance (“tilt”) can have significant consequences for bot...
