Changes Reflect Information Signaling ?

چکیده
We develop new tests of the dividend signaling hypothesis by focusing on the role of liquidity. We allow for two different types of signaling models: one where current dividends signal firm value and the objective is to prevent current dilution, and the other where commitments to future dividends constitute the signal. We find that the results differ by the sign of the dividend surprise. Signaling models of the commitment type explain the market reaction to negative dividend surprises. Interestingly, this result is significant only for the earlier sub-period in our sample due, perhaps, to the welldocumented increase in institutional investors with longer horizons. The market reaction to positive dividend surprises, on the other hand, is shown to be consistent with the overinvestment and wealth transfer hypotheses. We show that the failure of the signaling model for these firms could be due to lower costs of dividend increases.

Impact of rearing conditions and short-term light exposure on signaling performance in Drosophila photoreceptors.
The amount of visual information an animal can extract from its environment is ultimately limited by the signaling performance of its photoreceptors. To maximize their performance, photoreceptors must be able to accommodate large changes in input caused by the dynamic properties of the visual environment and the animal's own behavior. This is likely to require a range of adaptation mechanisms o...

متن کاملChanges in regulator of G protein signaling-4 gene expression in the spinal cord of adrenalectomized rats in response to intrathecal morphine
Introduction: Regulators of G-protein signaling protein negatively control G protein -coupled receptor signaling duration by accelerating Gα subunit guanosine triphosphate hydrolysis. Since regulator of G-protein signaling4 has an important role in modulating morphine effects at the cellular level and the exact mechanism(s) of adrenalectomy-induced morphine sensitization have not been fully cl...
متن کاملHypothalamus Pituitary Adrenal axis and stimulatory G proteins signaling role in nociceptive changes induced by forced swim stress
Introduction: Different mechanisms are involved in stress induced analgesia (SIA) and hyperalgesia (SIH). Repeated stress induces development of tolerance to SIA. The role of HPA axis and Gs signaling pathway in these effects are investigated in the current study. Methods: Forced swim stress (5 min/day) in water (20±1 ºC) was employed to adult male Wistar rats (200-250 g). The nociceptive t...
متن کاملInteraction between Intestinal Microbiota and Serotonin Metabolism
Gut microbiota regulates the production of signaling molecules, such as serotonin or 5-Hydroxytryptamine: 5-HT in the host. Serotonin is a biogenic amine that acts as a neurotransmitter in the gut and brain. There is a perfect interaction between human gastrointestinal microbiota and the serotonin system. The gut microbiota plays an important role in the serotonin signaling pathways through the...
