Easily Configurable Simulation Environment of Utran Physical Layer

UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) is the most expanding mobile technology nowadays. Evolution of networks proceeds with improvement of the core network and with integration of alternative wireless access networks. To improve present communication systems, an UMTS standard compliant simulation environment is essential. This paper introduces an UTRAN (UMTS Terrestrial Radio Access Network) physical layer simulation, designed to be easily configurable and flexible. Our simulation tool will be applied in IST Phoenix research project.
