Running and Programming Linux Introduction Linux shares very little in common with Microsoft Windows, the operating system that the vast majority of people have been taught to use or program. This report aims to provide the background information required to begin programming under Linux, with an emphasis on interfacing; to point the reader in the direction of further help that is available; as well as describing some of the details of programming for this operating system. This paper expects the reader to already have a fair understanding of the principles of programming in the C language.
