چکیده

abstract We find a class of extremal black hole-like global p-brane in higher-dimensional gravity with a negative cosmological constant. The region inside the p-brane horizon possesses all essential features required for the Randall-Sundrum-type brane world scenario. The setup allows to interpret the horizon size as the compactification size in that the Planck scale M Pl is determined by the fundamental scale M * and the horizon size r H via the familiar relation M 2 Pl ∼ M 2+n * r n H , and the gravity behaves as expected in a world with n-extra dimensions compactified with size r H. Most importantly, a stable mass hierarchy between M Pl and M * can be generated from topological charge of the p-brane and the horizon size r H therein. We also offer a new perspective on various issues associated to the brane world scenarios including the cosmological constant problem.

Entropy of the Randall-Sundrum black brane world in the brick-wall method

We calculate the entropy of the brane-world black hole in the RandallSundrum(RS) model by using the brick-wall method. The modes along the extra dimension are semi-classically quantized on the extra dimension. The number of modes in the extra dimension is given as a simple form with the help of the RS mass relation, and then the entropy for the scalar modes in the five-dimensional spacetime is ...

A Novel Mass Hierarchy and Discrete Excitation Spectra from Quantum-fluctuating D-branes

We elaborate further on a recently proposed scenario for generating a mass hierarchy through quantum fluctuations of a single D3 brane, which represents our world embedded in a bulk five-dimensional space time. In this scenario, the quantum fluctuations of the D3-brane world in the bulk direction, quantified to leading order via a 'recoil' world-sheet logarithmic conformal field theory approach...

Self-gravity of Brane Worlds: A New Hierarchy Twist

We examine the inclusion of brane self-gravity in brane-world scenarios with three or more compact extra dimensions. If the brane is a thin, localized one, then we find that the geometry in its vicinity is warped in such a way that gravity on the brane can become very weak, independently of the volume of the extra dimensions. As a consequence, self-gravity can make the brane structure enter int...

A Theoretical Construction of Thin Shell Wormhole from Tidal Charged Black hole

Recently, Dadhich et al [ Phys.Lett.B 487, 1 (2000)] have discovered a black hole solution localized on a three brane in five dimensional gravity in the RandallSundrum scenario. In this article, we develop a new class of thin shell wormhole by surgically grafting above two black hole spacetimes. Various aspects of this thin wormhole are also analyzed. Introduction: In recent years, several scie...

Black Brane World from Gravitating Half σ-lump

We study O(N+1) nonlinear σ-model in (p+1+N)-dimensional curved spacetime with a negative cosmological constant, and find a new σ-lump solution with half-integer winding and divergent energy. When the spatial structure of N extra-dimensions is determined by this global defect, a black σp-brane surrounded by the degenerated horizon is formed and its near-horizon geometry is identified as a warp ...
