چکیده
A fundamental postulate of quantum mechanics states that a measurement of a quantum system causes the collapse of the wave function. This is in contrast to the smooth, continuous, deterministic time evolution of the wave function in between measurements, governed by the Schrodinger equation. The latter is similar to classical physics; the former is unique to quantum mechanics. (Note that many physicists object to the use of the word \collapse" in this context as misleading, usually because they don't like to think of it that way. They instead have some other way of referring to it, that usually requires far more words. I'll stick to \collapse".)

action-at-a-distance in quantum correlations: Resolution of the Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen nonlocality puzzle
The long-standing puzzle of the nonlocal Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen correlations is resolved. The correct quantum mechanical correlations arise for the case of entangled particles when strict locality is assumed for the probability amplitudes instead of locality for probabilities. Locality of amplitudes implies that measurement on one particle does not collapse the companion particle to a definite...
متن کاملFrom the No-Signaling Theorem to Veiled Non-locality
According to the no-signaling theorem, the nonlocal collapse of the wavefunction of an entangled particle by the measurement on its twin particle at a remote location cannot be used to send useful information. Given that experiments on nonlocal correlations continue to have loopholes, we propose the stronger principle that the nonlocality of quantum mechanics itself is veiled. In practical term...
متن کاملBell's Theorem
The origins of this topic is a famous paper by Einstein, Rosen and Podolsky (EPR) in 1935; its title was Can Quantum-Mechanical Description of Physical Reality be Considered Complete? They considered what Einstein called the "spooky action-at-a-distance" that seems to be part of Quantum Mechanics, and concluded that the theory must be incomplete if not outright wrong. As you probably already kn...

This paper surveys some of the questions that arise when we consider how entanglement and relativity are related via the notion of non-locality. We begin by reviewing the role of entangled states in Bell inequality violation and question whether the associated notions of non-locality lead to problems with relativity. The use of entanglement and wavefunction collapse in Einstein's famous incompl...
متن کامل4 v 2 1 6 Se p 20 06 A Relativistic Version of the Ghirardi – Rimini – Weber Model
Carrying out a research program outlined by John S. Bell in 1987, we arrive at a relativistic version of the Ghirardi–Rimini–Weber (GRW) model of spontaneous wavefunction collapse. The GRW model was proposed as a solution of the measurement problem of quantum mechanics and involves a stochastic and nonlinear modification of the Schrödinger equation. It deviates very little from the Schrödinger ...
