PRINCIPLES OF OVERDENTURE ON ONE-PIECE NARROW DENTAL IMPLANTS IN PATIENTS WITH DIFFERENT PATTERNS OF MANDIBULAR RIDGE RESORPTION (Abstract). Aim: To highlight the particularities of mandibular overdenture on one-piece narrow dental implants in patients with two frequent and high-difficulty clinical situations, namely flat alveolar ridge (also known as severe ridge resorption, when mainly vertical bone resorption occurs) and narrow alveolar ridge (which in its most severe form has a knife -edge appearance, when mainly horizontal bone resorption occurs). Narrow implant overdenture is a treatment alternative that responds well to the most important reason of patient dissatisfa ction with conventional denture, namely its instability, through a relatively minimally invasive surgical intervention followed by relatively simple prosthetic procedures. To obtain a good outcome, particularization according to patient features, such as the morphology of the alveolar ridge is recommended. Deciding upon implant type, number, site, and attachment system should be made in accordance with such factors as bone offer and morphology of the alveolar ridge, edentulous and prosthetic status in the maxilla, prosthetic space, and the need to improve denture stability and retention.

Using Mini Dental Implants to Improve the Stability of an Existing Mandibular Complete Denture in a Patient with Severe Ridge Resorption
This case report presents a completely edentulous patient with severe ridge resorption who was not satisfied with his new mandibular complete denture. Three mini dental implants were placed to retain and improve the stability of his mandibular denture. In addition, a technique was employed to incorporate a metal framework into the existing implant overdenture.
متن کاملPosterior mandibular residual ridge resorption in patients with conventional dentures and implant overdentures.
PURPOSE This study investigated the effects of certain systemic and local factors on resorption of the posterior mandibular residual ridge under conventional dentures and overdentures supported by 2 implants. MATERIALS AND METHODS Proportional area measurements of the posterior mandible were made on rotational tomograms taken immediately before and 5 years after treatment. The area was bounde...
متن کاملRitva Kuoppala Outcome of Implant - Supported Overdenture Treatment
The retention of a complete denture and the patient’s adaptation varies considerably among different individuals. Resorption of the edentulous alveolar ridge differs greatly and some patients need implant-retained overdentures to enable adequate retention of their prostheses. In some extreme cases it is necessary to increase the volume of the alveolar ridge with bone grafts. The aim of this stu...
متن کاملComparison of the Effect of Ball and Bar Attachment Designs on Retention and Stability of Mandibular Implant-Supported Overdentures
Objectives: The present study evaluated the effect of bar and ball attachment designs on retention and stability of a mandibular overdenture supported by four implants. Methods: An edentulous mandibular acrylic resin model with four implants in the anterior part of the ridge (A, B, D and E) was fabricated. A metal framework simulating the overdenture was also fabricated. Totally, 30...

PURPOSE To compare prefabricated and custom-made bars used for implant-retained mandibular complete overdentures. MATERIALS Ten completely edentulous patients were selected for replacement with dental implants. Each patient received 2 (press-fit) dental implants, 1 implant on each side in the canine regions of the mandible. The implants were left submerged (unloaded) for a healing osseointegr...
