The Tsunami of Health Care

چکیده
The gap between existing knowledge and the patient care provided in stroke has become more apparent. The translational gap is evidence of our scientific progress, but the sheer magnitude of our implementation gap is astounding. For instance, almost 5 decades ago we recognized the risk factors for stroke, yet in Canada until recently fewer than 20% of cases of hypertension were effectively controlled. We recognize that continued exposure to risk factors will not only lead to clinically evident strokes, but far more frequently to silent strokes resulting in cognitive decline. In addition, the same risk factors cause damage to other organs. This growing gap between existing knowledge and its translational delivery is leading our politicians to demand more practical returns. As scientific and clinical opinion leaders in stroke, we have a huge opportunity now to lead the process of narrowing the translational gap. We need to keep our emphasis on individual research excellence but temper it with a social mission to improve stroke prevention, care and rehabilitation. Toward this end, the Canadian Stroke Network partnered with the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada to develop the ‘Canadian Stroke Strategy’, an approach to focus research, increase training of stroke specialists, coordinate the care of patients, and bring ‘systems change’ to respond to the growing gap in all facets of stroke care. Lessons learned from both successes and failures can inform our translational efficiency in the future and facilitate collective progress in stroke care. (Stroke. 2007;38:3296-3301.)

Tsunami warning system using of IoT
Abstract Today, the world has reached a new nature with advances in science. The Internet of Things is a technology that can connect all objects in different fields through the Internet. Any unforeseen event that destroys economic, social and physical capabilities and inflicts human and financial losses is known as a natural disaster, such as a tsunami. متن کاملThree Dimensional Numerical Simulation of Tsunami Generation and Propagation Due to Makran Subduction and run-up on Chabahar Bay and Makran Coasts
Makran subduction located at the northwest of the Indian Ocean nearby the southern coast of Iran and Pakistan. Makran subduction is the source of tsunamis that threaten southern coast of Iran. In this article, generation and propagation of 1945’s tsunami initiated by Makran subduction is simulated. For the three dimensional generation of the wave, advanced algorithm of Okada is adopted. The CFD...
متن کاملNumerical Modeling of Tsunami Waves Associated With Worst Earthquake Scenarios of the Makran Subduction Zone in the Jask Port, Iran
The recent studies show that the past researches may have significantly underestimated earthquake and tsunami hazard in the Makran Subduction Zone (MSZ) and this region is potentially capable of producing major earthquakes. In this study, the worst case possible earthquake scenarios of the MSZ are simulated using fully nonlinear boussinesq model to investigate tsunami hazards on the Jask Port, ...
متن کاملAn evaluation of public, private, and mobile health clinic usage for children under age 5 in Aceh after the tsunami: implications for future disasters
Background: Aceh, Indonesia, was the hardest-hit area in the 26 December 2004 Indian Ocean earthquake and tsunami, with more than 500,000 people displaced, 120,000 people dead, and total damages and losses estimated at $4.5 billion. The relief effort following the tsunami was also immense. Objectives: This study aimed to determine and assess utilization patterns of formal public versus private ...
متن کاملMeeting the Health Needs of Migrant Workers Affected by the Tsunami
0489 Following last December’s tsunami, Thailand reported 10,385 deaths and missing persons among Thais and foreign tourists, 80% of them in Phang Nga province (Figure 1). These reported tsunami deaths do not include Burmese migrant workers, which one local organisation estimates as being as many as 1,000 individuals [1]. Medical relief to Thai nationals and Western victims was well organised [...
