Probabilities of Causation: Bounds and Identi cation

چکیده

This paper deals with the problem of estimating the probability of causation, that is, the probability that one event was the real cause of another, in a given scenario. Starting from structural-semantical de nitions of the probabilities of necessary or su cient causation (or both), we show how to bound these quantities from data obtained in experimental and observational studies, under general assumptions concerning the data-generating process. In particular, we strengthen the results of Pearl (1999) by presenting sharp bounds based on combined experimental and nonexperimental data under no process assumptions, as well as under the mild assumptions of exogeneity (no confounding) and monotonicity (no prevention). These results delineate more precisely the basic assumptions that must be made before statistical measures such as the excess-risk-ratio could be used for assessing attributional quantities such as the probability of causation.

SECURING INTERPRETABILITY OF FUZZY MODELS FOR MODELING NONLINEAR MIMO SYSTEMS USING A HYBRID OF EVOLUTIONARY ALGORITHMS

In this study, a Multi-Objective Genetic Algorithm (MOGA) is utilized to extract interpretable and compact fuzzy rule bases for modeling nonlinear Multi-input Multi-output (MIMO) systems. In the process of non- linear system identi cation, structure selection, parameter estimation, model performance and model validation are important objectives. Furthermore, se- curing low-level and high-level ...

System Identi cation and Model Error Bounds : Software Review and Case Studies

We present the basic idea and setup for some recent methods for System Identi cation, that also deliver error bounds to the user. In particular, we look at Stochastic Embedding (SE), Set Membership Identi cation (SMI) and Model Error Modeling (MEM). We review and test existing software packages and present a comparing example.

A New Identi cation Condition for Recursive Models with Correlated Errors

This paper establishes a new criterion for the identi cation of recursive linear models in which some errors are correlated. We show that identi cation is ensured as long as error correlation does not exist between a cause and its direct e ect; no restrictions are imposed on errors associated with indirect causes.

Exact maximum coverage probabilities of confidence intervals with increasing bounds for Poisson distribution mean

‎A Poisson distribution is well used as a standard model for analyzing count data‎. ‎So the Poisson distribution parameter estimation is widely applied in practice‎. ‎Providing accurate confidence intervals for the discrete distribution parameters is very difficult‎. ‎So far‎, ‎many asymptotic confidence intervals for the mean of Poisson distribution is provided‎. ‎It is known that the coverag...
