Reverse remodeling after coronary revascularization in patients with ischemic heart disease: focused on change of infarct scar
نویسندگان
چکیده
Methods Twenty-four patients with severe LV dysfunction {ejection fraction (EF) <35% on echocardiography} underwent before and more than 6 months after surgical revascularization. The following variables were measured: LV volumes, EF, mass, absolute and relative infarction size, transmural extent of infarction, and wall thickness. All patients were classified into two groups: group I, presence of revere remodeling after revascularization; group II, absence of reverse remodeling group. A reduction of 10% or more in end-diastole and end-systole volumes were considered presence of reverse remodeling. Variables were compared between preoperative and postoperative MR scans in each group.

Introdution: Ischemic mitral regurgitation (IMR) remains one of the most complex and unresolved aspects of ischemic heart disease that the impact of percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) on improvement of intensity of ischemic mitral regurgitation is not well clarified. Patients with coronary artery diseases and ischemic mitral regurgitation have a worse prognosis than the patients with coro...
متن کاملEvaluation of Cardiac Mitochondrial Function by a Nuclear Imaging Technique using Technetium-99m-MIBI Uptake Kinetics
Mitochondria play an important role in energy production for the cell. The proper function of a myocardial cell largely depends on the functional capacity of the mitochondria. Therefore it is necessary to establish a novel and reliable method for a non-invasive assessment of mitochondrial function and metabolism in humans. Although originally designed for evaluating myocardial perfusion, 99mTc...
متن کاملImpact of coronary revascularization and transmural extent of scar on regional left ventricular remodelling.
AIMS Transmural extent (TME) of myocardial scar, contractile reserve, and perfusion all predict improvement in regional myocardial function after coronary revascularization. We sought their association with regional remodelling after infarction. METHODS AND RESULTS We studied 89 patients (age 62 +/- 10 years) with left ventricular (LV) dysfunction, at least 1 month post infarction. Viability ...

Purpose: To assess the relationship between the severity of coronary arteries involvement and the extent and pattern of myocardial scars in Cardiac Magnetic Resonance of patients with history of remote myocardial infarction. Materials and Methods: The Cardiac Magnetic Resonance images of sixty patients with history of remote ST segment or non-ST segment elevation myocardial infarction were ...
متن کاملInfarct characterization and quantification by delayed enhancement cardiac magnetic resonance imaging is a powerful independent and incremental predictor of mortality in patients with advanced ischemic cardiomyopathy.
BACKGROUND Infarct heterogeneity has been shown to be independently associated with adverse outcomes in previous smaller studies. However, it is unknown whether infarct characterization is an independent predictor of all-cause mortality in patients with advanced ischemic cardiomyopathy, after adjusting for clinical risk factors, severity of ischemic mitral regurgitation, incomplete revasculariz...
