چکیده

Zn and Ni impurities in the hole-doped high-temperature superconductors are known to have strong effects on thermodynamic and transport properties. A recent scanning tunneling microscope study of Zn-doped Bi2212 (Pan et al., Nature 403, 746 (2000)) has provided high-resolution images of the local density of states around non-magnetic impurities in dx2−y2-wave superconductors. These pictures contain detailed information about the spinor wave functions u(r) and v(r) of bound states with energy E0 ∼ ∆/30, centered at the Znsites. We show that this type of wave function follows from the solutions of the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equations for dx2−y2-wave superconductors. Typeset using REVTEX

Quasi-Particle Spectrum around a Single Vortex in Superconductors s-Wave Case

Making use of the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation, we study the quasi-particle spectrum and the vortex core structure of a single vortex in quasi 2D s-wave superconductors for small pF ξ0, where pF is the Fermi momentum and ξ0 = vF /∆0 is the coherence length (h̄ = 1). During our numerical calculation the particle number is conserved for each pF ξ0. In particular, we find that there are only 1 or ...

0 Temperature dependence of impurity bound states in d x 2 − y 2 - wave superconductors

We study the evolution with temperature of quasiparticle bound states around non-magnetic impurities in dx2−y2-wave superconductors. The associated local density of states has a fourfold symmetry which has recently been observed in Zn-doped Bi2212 using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM). From the corresponding Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation we find that with increasing temperature the magnitud...

Impurity bound states in fully gapped d-wave superconductors with subdominant order parameters

Impurities in superconductors and their induced bound states are important both for engineering novel states such as Majorana zero-energy modes and for probing bulk properties of the superconducting state. The high-temperature cuprates offer a clear advantage in a much larger superconducting order parameter, but the nodal energy spectrum of a pure d-wave superconductor only allows virtual bound...

Quasi - particle spectra around a single vortex in a d - wave superconductor

Using the Bogoliubov-de Gennes equation, we study the quasi-particle spectra around a single vortex in a d-wave superconductor, where a magnetic field is parallel to the c-axis. In the temperature region where the Ginzburg-Landau theory is valid, we find that the local density of states preserves a circular symmetry when the symmetry of the superconducting order parameter is pure d-wave. It, ho...

Fundamental properties of a vortex in a d-wave superconductor

The vortex core structure in a d-wave superconductor is analyzed on the basis of the quasi-classical Eilenberger theory beyond the Ginzburg-Landau framework. The current and magnetic eld distributions around an isolated vortex break circular symmetry seen in s-wave pairing and show four-fold symmetry, re BLOCKINecting the internal degrees of freedom in d-wave pairing, i.e. ^ k 2 x 0 ^ k 2 y in ...
