چکیده

Emerging Internet applications create the need for advanced packet classifiers. This paper investigates the mechanisms that determine the performance of state-of-the-art multi-field classification methods, and proposes a novel scheme called P2C for packet classification at OC-192 and OC-768 speeds. P2C combines the strengths of embedded memory and ternary CAM technologies to achieve very high storage efficiency while maintaining fast incremental updates. Key feature of the new scheme is its ability to adapt to the complexity of a classification rule set, while providing effective control over the update dynamics and storage requirements at the granularity of individual rules. This makes P2C suitable for a broad range of applications.

Design of multi-field IPv6 packet classifiers using ternary CAMs

Typically, high-end routers/switches classify a packet by looking for multiple fields of the IP/TCP headers and recognize which flow the packet belongs to. Several packet classification algorithms to accelerate packet processing and reduce the memory requirement have been proposed. But it is not easy to implement these algorithms in hardware to lookup these multiple fields in the same time. Thi...

Feature Extraction to Identify Network Traffic with Considering Packet Loss Effects

There are huge petitions of network traffic coming from various applications on Internet. In dealing with this volume of network traffic, network management plays a crucial rule. Traffic classification is a basic technique which is used by Internet service providers (ISP) to manage network resources and to guarantee Internet security. In addition, growing bandwidth usage, at one hand, and limit...

A Scalable Pipeline Architecture for Line Rate Packet Classification on Fpgas

Multi-dimensional packet classification is a key function for networking applications in high-speed routers. Although a multitude of research has explored this area, efficient packet classification that supports large rule sets at line rate remains challenging. This paper presents a scalable pipeline architecture, named BiConOLP, for line rate packet classification on FPGAs. We study the proble...

A multi-pipeline architecture for high-speed packet classification

When a packet arrives at a flow-aware router, it is subject to a number of lookup and classification operations. The packet is first checked against an access control list and/or firewall to determine whether it will be accepted or rejected. This classification function supports packet filtering and provides IPSec security associations. A second classification is used to regulate the traffic on...

Designinga Neuro-Sliding Mode Controller for Networked Control Systems with Packet Dropout

This paper addresses control design in networked control system by considering stochastic packet dropouts in the forward path of the control loop. The packet dropouts are modelled by mutually independent stochastic variables satisfying Bernoulli binary distribution. A sliding mode controller is utilized to overcome the adverse influences of stochastic packet dropouts in networked control system...
