چکیده

Purpose: To explore the effects of single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) on pancreatic cancer risk and overall survival (OS). ExperimentalDesign: The germ lineDNAof 531pancreatic cancer cases and305healthy controls froma hospital-based studywas genotyped at SNPs previously reported to be associatedwith pancreatic cancer risk or clinical outcome. We analyzedputative risk SNPs for replication of their reported effects on risk and tested for novel effects on OS. Similarly, we analyzed putative survival-associated SNPs for replication of their reported effects onOS and tested for novel effects on risk. Finally, we conducted a genome-wide association study (GWAS)ofOSusing a subset of 252 cases, with two subsequent validation sets of 261 and572patients,

Pancreatic Cancer Susceptibility Loci and Their Role in Survival

Pancreatic cancer has one of the worst mortality rates of all cancers. Little is known about its etiology, particularly regarding inherited risk. The PanScan project, a genome-wide association study, identified several common polymorphisms affecting pancreatic cancer susceptibility. Single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in ABO, sonic hedgehog (SHH), telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT), nuc...

The miR526b-5p-Related Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms, rs72618599, Located in 3\'-UTR of TCF3 Gene, is Associated with the Risk of Breast and Gastric Cancers

Introduction: Single nucleotide polymorphisms result in dysregulation of the proto-oncogene TCF3 gene, which is associated with the development, metastasis, and chemoresistance of different malignancies. Methods: GSE10810 microarray dataset and GEPIA2 online software were used to find differentially expressed genes and the TCF3 status in breast cancer (BC) and gastric cancer (GC), respectively....

SLC22A3 polymorphisms do not modify pancreatic cancer risk, but may influence overall patient survival

Expression of the solute carrier (SLC) transporter SLC22A3 gene is associated with overall survival of pancreatic cancer patients. This study tested whether genetic variability in SLC22A3 associates with pancreatic cancer risk and prognosis. Twenty four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) tagging the SLC22A3 gene sequence and regulatory elements were selected for analysis. Of these, 22 were ...

No association between single nucleotide polymorphisms in pre-mirnas and the risk of gastric cancer in Chinese population

Objective(s): Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that miRNAs contribute to various genetic and epigenetic modifications in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer (GC). Recent studies focused on the four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of pre-miRNAs including rs11614913, rs3746444, rs2910164, and rs2292832. It was suggested that these four SNPs were significantly associated with the risk ...
