چکیده

Edge detection is a fundamental issue in image analysis. Due to the presence of speckle, which can be modelled as a strong multiplicative noise, edge detection in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images is very di cult and methods developed for optical images are ine cient. We here propose a new edge detector for SAR images which is optimum in the MSSE sense for a stochastic multiedge model. It computes a normalized Ratio Of Exponentially Weighted Averages (ROEWA) on opposite sides of the central pixel. This is done in the horizontal and vertical direction, and the magnitude of the two components yields an edge strength map. Thresholding of the edge strenght map and postprocessing to eliminate false edges are brie y discussed. We present results on simulated SAR images and ERS1 data.

Diierent Approaches to Multiedge Detection in Sar Images

Edge detection is a fundamental issue in image analysis. The presence of speckle, which can be modelled as a strong multiplicative noise, complicates edge detection in Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) images. Several statistical edge detectors have been developed speciically for such images, based on the hypothesis that only one step edge is present in the analyzing window. We here concentrate on...

An optimal multiedge detector for SAR image segmentation

Edge detection is a fundamental issue in image analysis. Due to the presence of speckle, which can be modeled as a strong, multiplicative noise, edge detection in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images is extremely difficult, and edge detectors developed for optical images are inefficient. Several robust operators have been developed for the detection of isolated step edges in speckled images. W...

Extended ratio edge detector for despeckled SAR image evaluation

Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) images due to the usage of coherent imaging systems are affected by speckle. So lots of despeckling filters have been introduced up to now to suppress the speckle. Hence, objective and subjective evaluation of the denoised SAR images becomes a necessity. Thereby lots of objective evaluating estimators are introduced to evaluate the performance of despeckling filte...

The Extended Sub-look Analysis In Polarimetric SAR Data For Ship Detection

The monitoring of maritime areas with remote sensing is essential for security reasons and also for the conservation of environment. The synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can play an important role in this matter by considering the possibility of acquiring high-resolution images at nighttime and under cloud cover. Recently, the new approaches based on the sub-look analysis for preserving the infor...
