چکیده

Stereo correspondence is hard because di erent image features can look alike. We propose a measure for the ambiguity of image points that allows matching distinctive points rst and breaks down the matching task into smaller and separate subproblems. Experiments with a branch-and-bound algorithm based on this measure demonstrate the ensuing e ciency and low likelihood of incorrect matches. Category: Stereo matching

Optimizing Disparity Candidates Space in Dense Stereo Matching

In this paper, a new approach for optimizing disparity candidates space is proposed for the solution of dense stereo matching problem. The main objectives of this approachare the reduction of average number of disparity candidates per pixel with low computational cost and high assurance of retaining the correct answer. These can be realized due to the effective use of multiple radial windows, i...

Distinctive Similarity Measure for stereo matching under point ambiguity

The point ambiguity owing to the ambiguous local appearances of image points is one of the main causes making the stereo problem difficult. Under the point ambiguity, local similarity measures are easy to be ambiguous and this results in false matches in ambiguous areas. In this paper, we present a new similarity measure to resolve the point ambiguity problem based on the idea that the distinct...

A multiple-baseline stereo

This paper presents a stereo matching method which uses multiple stereo pairs with various baselines to obtain precise depth estimates without suffering from ambiguity. In stereo processing, a short baseline means that the estimated depth will be less precise due to narrow triangulation. For more precise depth estimation, a longer baseline is desired. With a longer baseline, however, a larger d...

A Cooperative Method of SFM and Stereo for Motion and Depth Extraction

method is robust enough to be used in industry and society. Stereo is a useful technique for obtaining depth information from images. However, it is required that the baseline length between two cameras should be large to increase depth precision. Consequently, stereo matching suffers from ambiguities due to large baseline length. Therefore, the matching problem would become much easier if a se...

Chromatic Stereopsis

One approach to developing faster, more robust stereo algorithms is to seek a more complete and efficient use of information available in stereo images. The use of chromatic (color) information has been largely neglected in this regard. Motivations for using chromatic information are discussed, including strong evidence for the use of chromatic information in the human stereo correspondence pro...
