چکیده

The paper presents results from three large scale experiments on seven reinforced concrete panels obtained during an extensive experimental program. This was aimed at possible application of cement reduced (fly ash replaced) concrete in the production of precast segmental linings for tunnels created by a tunnel boring machine (TBM). In particular, this paper is focused on the comparison of fire resistance of enhanced mixtures loaded by the Rijkswaterstaat (RWS) fire curve, which assumes 50m fuel tanker fire lasting for 120 minutes. The presented results include spalling, overall damage of the surface and temperature distribution of the tested panels. The paper also presents description of the proposed method for the evaluation of the extent of spalling during the experiments since, due to the extreme temperatures, the direct observation of the exposed surface is not possible.

Experimental Study on Durability Improvement of Fly Ash Concrete with Durability Improving Admixture

In order to improve the durability of fly ash concrete, a series of experimental studies are carried out, where durability improving admixture is used to reduce drying shrinkage and improve freezing-thawing resistance. The effects of durability improving admixture, air content, water-binder ratio, and fly ash replacement ratio on the performance of fly ash concrete are discussed in this paper. ...

Durability Performance of Self Compacting Concrete Incorporating Alccofine and Fly Ash

The cost associated with the application of large volume of cement and synthetic admixtures was one of the major drawbacks of Self Compacting Concrete (SCC), which can be reduced by the use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCM). When the demand of cement reduces, the release of carbon dioxide (CO2) from cement industries will come down, which has a positive impact on global w...

Effect of Source of Fly Ash on Abrasion Resistance of Concrete

This investigation was performed to establish the effects of the source and amount of fly ash on abrasion resistance of concrete. A reference concrete was proportioned to have a 28day age strength of 41 MPa. Three sources of Class C fly ash were used in this research. From each source, three levels of fly ash to total cementitious materials content (40, 50, and 60%) were used in producing the c...

Combine Use of Fly Ash and Rice Husk Ash in Concrete to Improve its Properties (RESEARCH NOTE)

This research paper describes the study of combined effect of Fly Ash (FA) and Rice Husk Ash (RHA) on properties of concrete as partial replacement of Ordinary Portland Cement (OPC). These by-products are having high pozzolanic reactivity. In this research, the composition of mix was used with 10% RHA along with 10, 20 and 30% FA as partial replacement of cement. In this study, the compressive ...

Research of High Fly Ash Content in Concrete with Dipy Construction Formwork

This paper reports the research and application of high fly ash content concrete (HFCC) with Dipy construction formwork. Concrete construction using Dipy construction formwork can skip the processes of form stripping and concrete vibration. According to the research of the working principle of concrete with Dipy construction formwork, it can be found that cement paste composed of high fly ash c...
