Unitary Space-Time Group Codes: Diversity Sums From Character Tables
نویسندگان
چکیده
Diversity sum, which is calculated from the Frobenius norm of the difference of two distinct elements in a signal constellation, is the significant parameter to predict a unitary group constellation having a good performance in low SNR. In this paper, we propose a method to compute the diversity sum of a unitary group constellation using a character table. Some examples of using our method to different unitary groups: cyclic groups, dicyclic groups and the special linear groups are given. We also define the term faithful group constellation, that is, its diversity sum is greater than 0. One example, in this paper, is the projective special linear group PSL2.

Unitary signal constellations for differential space--Time modulation with two transmit antennas: Parametric codes, optimal designs, and bounds
Differential space–time modulation has been recently proposed in the literature for multiple-antenna systems over Rayleigh-fading channels, where neither the transmitter nor the receiver knows the fading coefficients. For the practical success of differential space–time modulation, it has been shown critical to design unitary space–time signal constellations with large diversity product which i...
متن کاملNew Results In Unitary Space-Time Code Construction and Comparison to Upper Bounds
Unitary space-time codes are a coding technique for unknown (i.e. non-coherent) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) channels. The unitary constellation symbol-error rate performance is determined by the the diversity product and diversity sum metrics of the constellation. Numerous techniques have been presented over the last few years for constructing unitary space-time codes with continually...
متن کاملUnitary Space-Time Constellation Designs From Group Codes
We propose new unitary space-time constellation designs with high diversity products. Our Hamiltonian and product constellations are based on Slepian’s group codes, and can be used for any number of transmitter antennas M and any data rate R. Our Hamiltonian constellations achieve the theoretical upper bound of diversity product in the case where M is even and the cardinality of the signal cons...
متن کاملAn Application of theBruhat Decomposition to the Design of Full Diversity Unitary Space-Time Codes
A full diversity constellation, that is, a set of unitary matrices whose differences have nonzero determinant, is a design criterion for codes with good performance using differential unitary space-time modulation. Recently, fixed-point free groups and the infinite group SU(2) have been used to produce full diversity unitary group constellations. In this paper, we present a new Bruhat decomposi...
متن کاملCharacterization of $2times 2$ full diversity space-time codes and inequivalent full rank spaces
In wireless communication systems, space-time codes are applied to encode data when multiple antennas are used in the receiver and transmitter. The concept of diversity is very crucial in designing space-time codes. In this paper, using the equivalent definition of full diversity space-time codes, we first characterize all real and complex $2times 2$ rate one linear dispersion space-...
