چکیده

We study a simple one-dimensional model of ballisticaly-controlled annihilation in which the two annihilating species are initially spatially separated. The time dependent properties of the annihilation front are exactly derived. It is shown that the front wanders in a brownian fashion around its average value.

Some exact results for Boltzmann's annihilation dynamics.

The problem of ballistic annihilation for a spatially homogeneous system is revisited within Boltzmann's kinetic theory in two and three dimensions. Analytical results are derived for the time evolution of the particle density for some isotropic discrete bimodal velocity modulus distributions. According to the allowed values of the velocity modulus, different behaviors are obtained: power law d...

We study the possibility of localization of the front present in a one-dimensional ballistically-controlled annihilation model in which the two annihilating species are initially spatially separated. We construct two different classes of initial conditions, for which the front remains localized.

Random deposition model with friction: Equivalent to ballistic deposition without lateral growth

The Random Deposition model is the simplest model for surface growth, where there is no correlation between the neighbor sites of the lattice. In the Ballistic deposition model, the particles stick to the first neighbor particle; thus it is used to describe the deposition of the sticky particles. However, in many true-life phenomena involving surface growth, there is no adhesion. Instead, the f...

Dynamics of ballistic annihilation.

The problem of ballistically controlled annihilation is revisited for general initial velocity distributions and an arbitrary dimension. An analytical derivation of the hierarchy equations obeyed by the reduced distributions is given, and a scaling analysis of the corresponding spatially homogeneous system is performed. This approach points to the relevance of the nonlinear Boltzmann equation f...

Decay Kinetics in Ballistic Annihilation

For irreversible diffusion-controlled reactions, it is now widely appreciated that the density decays more slowly than the predictions of mean-field theory in sufficiently low spatial dimension. For two-species annihilation, this behavior is accompanied by the dynamic formation of large-scale spatial heterogeneities in an initially homogeneous system [1]. The contrasting situation where the rea...
