Making Tunnel Junctions Possible: Design and Implementation of an Angular Deposition Device and Oxidation Process
نویسنده
چکیده
Modifications to an automated thermal evaporator were made: A device for angular evaporation was fabricated and a protocol for in vacuum oxidation was developed. The new features allow for versatile fabrication of metaltunnel junction-metal thin film samples. A discussion of the usefulness of tunnel junctions is provided.

Tunnel Magnetoresistance Devices Processed by Oxidation in Air and UV Assisted Oxidation in Oxygen
Tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) devices were processed by sputter deposition of Co, Al and NiFe on oxidized Si wafers. After the Al deposition, an ex-situ oxidation in air at room temperature or an in-situ oxidation enhanced by ultraviolet (UV) irradiation in high purity oxygen at 100 mbar follows. The electrical and magnetic properties of the junctions are measured and discussed concerning spec...
متن کاملNew Thickness Control Process of Oxide Barrier for Nb-Based Tunnel Junctions
The Nb-based superconductor-insulator-superconductor (SIS) tunnel junctions have been broadly used in many applications. The critical current density ( ), one of the most important parameters of SIS tunnel junction, is usually controlled by the oxygen exposure ( 2) of the Al oxidation process. R. E. Miller et al. demonstrated the relation between and oxygen exposure using the SNEP process. Howe...

Multi-junction solar cells play a crucial role in the ConcentratedPhotovoltaic (CPV) Systems. Recent developments in CPV concerning high powerproduction and cost effective-ness along with better efficiency are due to theadvancements in multi-junction cells. This paper presents a simulation model of thegeneralized Multi-junction solar cell and introduces a two-bond solar ...
متن کاملBallistic electron microscopy study of ultrathin oxidized aluminum barriers for magnetic tunnel junctions
Ballistic electron emission microscopy has been used to study thin aluminum oxide tunnel junction barriers formed both by magnetron sputter deposition and thermal evaporation. We have found that the barriers made by oxidation of evaporated Al become fully formed at a significantly thinner mean deposited thickness ~;6 Å! than junctions made by sputter deposition. The effective barrier height of ...
