چکیده
Multiprotocol Label Switching (MPLS) is the latest technology in the evolution of routing and forwarding mechanisms for the core of the Internet. It ensures the reliable delivery of the Internet services with high transmission speed and lower delays. Traffic Engineering (TE) in MPLS is used for effectively managing the networks for efficient utilization of network resources. MPLS technology makes it more suitable for implementing real-time applications such as Voice and video due to lower network delay, efficient forwarding mechanism, scalability and predictable performance of the services. In this paper the performance of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) application is compared in MPLS network and conventional Internet Protocol (IP) network. The comparison is based on the performance metrics such as Voice jitter, Voice packet end-to-end delay, voice delay variation, voice packet send and received. The simulation results are analyzed and it shows that MPLS based solution provides better performance in implementing the VoIP application. متن کاملVoIP versus VoMPLS Performance Evaluation
Increasing number of Internet users forced them to use popular services, television and telephone, to use the Internet as a medium to reach their customers. Organizations are now applying VoIP and MPLS for providing the convergence of voice and data communications over single network infrastructure. VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) usage all over their branches, this reduces a huge amount of...
متن کاملRFC 4247 Requirements for Header Compression over MPLS
Voice over IP (VoIP) typically uses the encapsulation voice/RTP/UDP/IP. When MPLS labels are added, this becomes voice/RTP/UDP/IP/MPLS-labels. For an MPLS VPN, the packet header is typically 48 bytes, while the voice payload is often no more than 30 bytes, for example. Header compression can significantly reduce the overhead through various compression mechanisms, such as enhanced compressed RT...
متن کاملImplementation of Traffic Engineering and Addressing QoS in MPLS VPN Based IP Backbone
With increasing popularity and ever emerging business needs there was an immense focus to improve the Internet world and to provide guarantee for service delivery. Simplest example for this case is VoIP where two subscribers make a voice call through MPLS based backbone. The end subscribers should have similar quality as that of POTS. Subscribers will expect a real time conversation with limite...
