چکیده

This paper investigates the performance of a spatio-spectral template on Ikonos imagery to automatically detect small recreational boats. The spatio-spectral template is employed which is then enhanced through use of a weighted Euclidean distance metric adapted from the Mahalanobis distance metric. The purpose is to assist the Canadian Coast Guard in gathering data on recreational boating for the modeling of search and rescue incidence risk. To test the detection accuracy of the enhanced spatiospectral template, a dataset was created by gathering position and attribute data for 53 recreation vessel targets purposely moored for this research within Cadboro Bay, British Columbia, Canada. The Cadboro Bay study site containing the targets was imaged using Ikonos. The overall detection accuracy was 77 percent. The targets were broken down into two categories: Category A-less than 6 m in length, and Category B-greater than 6 m long. The detection rate for the Category B targets was 100 percent, while the detection rate for the Category A targets was 61 percent. It is important to note that some Category A targets were purposely selected for their small size to specifically test the detection limits of the enhanced spatiospectral template. The smallest target detected was 2.2 meters long and 1.1 meters wide. The analysis also revealed that the ability to detect targets between 2.2 meters and 6 meters long was diminished if the target was a dark color.

A Vessel for Building Another Vessel. A Technical Template of the Late 4th Millennium BCE in the Central-Eastern of the Iranian Plateau?

Two vessels from different sites of the Iranian Plateau, dating to the late 4th or early 3rd millennium BCE are presented aspalaeotechnological case studies. In the fractures of the vessels’ walls, interfaces left by added clay parts (enhanced inthe two illustrations) are quite recognizable. It is proposed that in both cases potters, in order to construct the bases, usedto make bowls comparable...

An Automatic Detection of the Fire Smoke Through Multispectral Images

One of the consequences of a fire is smoke. Occasionally, monitoring and detection of this smoke can be a solution to prevent occurrence or spreading a fire. On the other hand, due to the destructive effects of the smoke spreading on human health, measures can be taken to improve the level of health services by zoning and monitoring its expansion process. In this paper, an automated method is p...

AN-EUL method for automatic interpretation of potential field data in unexploded ordnances (UXO) detection

We have applied an automatic interpretation method of potential data called AN-EUL in unexploded ordnance (UXO) prospective which is indeed a combination of the analytic signal and the Euler deconvolution approaches. The method can be applied for both magnetic and gravity data as well for gradient surveys based upon the concept of the structural index (SI) of a potential anomaly which is relate...

Eye Activity Detection and Recognition Using Morphological Scale-Space Decomposition

Automatic recovery of eye gestures from image sequences is one of the important topics for face recognition and model-based coding of videophone sequences. Usually complicated models of the eye and its motion are used. In this contribution an eye gesture parameter estimation is described. A previously published automatic eye detection/tracking algorithm, based on template matching, is used for ...
