چکیده

Intelligent tutoring systems (ITS) aim at development of two main interconnected modules: pedagogical module and student module. The pedagogical module concerns with the design of a teaching strategy which combines the interest of the student, tutor’s capability and characteristics of subject. Very few effective models have been developed which combine the cognitive, psychological and behavioral components of tutor, student and the characteristics of a subject in ITS. We have developed a tutorsubject-student (TSS) paradigm for the selection of a tutor for a particular subject. A selection index of a tutor is calculated based upon his performance profile, preference, desire, intention, capability and trust. An aptitude of a student is determined based upon his answering to the seven types of subject topic categories such as Analytical, Reasoning, Descriptive, Analytical Reasoning, Analytical Descriptive, Reasoning Descriptive and Analytical Reasoning Descriptive. The selection of a tutor is performed for a particular type of topic in the subject on the basis of a student’s aptitude.

An Adaptive Domain-Independent Agents-Based Tutor for Web-Based Supplemental Learning Environments

The Physics Interactive Video Tutor (PIVoT) is a Web-based multimedia resource for college-level Newtonian mechanics. The Personal Tutor (PT) is an intelligent tutoring system (ITS) integrated into PIVoT, assisting students and teachers in navigating through, understanding, and assessing PIVoT's educational media. PT is adaptive in that it personalizes its functionality to the preferences of it...

Agent-Based Distributed Intelligent Tutoring System Using Case-Based Reasoning

Intelligent Tutoring Systems have proven their worth in multiple ways and in multiple domains in education. In this chapter, the proposed Agent-Based Distributed ITS using CBR for enhancing the intelligent learning environment is introduced. The general architecture of the ABDITS is formed by the three components that generally characterize an ITS: the Student Model, the Domain Model, and the P...

Sensors Model Student Self Concept in the Classroom

In this paper we explore findings from three experiments that use minimally invasive sensors with a web based geometry tutor to create a user model. Minimally invasive sensor technology is mature enough to equip classrooms of up to 25 students with four sensors at the same time while using a computer based intelligent tutoring system. The sensors, which are on each student’s chair, mouse, monit...

Distributed Case Based Reasoning for Intelligent Tutoring System: An Agent Based Student Modeling Paradigm

Online learning with Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) is becoming very popular where the system models the student’s learning behavior and presents to the student the learning material (content, questions-answers, assignments) accordingly. In today’s distributed computing environment, the tutoring system can take advantage of networking to utilize the model for a student for students from othe...

Intelligent Tutor Generator for Intelligent Tutoring System

The emergence of Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) has opened up new avenues for the use of computers in the field of education. ITSs are able to tackle difficult instructional problems and extend the usefulness of the computer as an instructional tool. Intelligent Tutoring Systems have proved useful in various domains, but are highly resource intensive to build , the “tutor generators” for ass...
