چکیده

Ground-source heat pump (GSHP) systems can achieve a higher coefficient of performance than conventional airsource heat pump (ASHP) systems because the ground, which functions as the heat source or sink, is at a higher temperature in winter and lower in summer than the air temperature (Kavanaugh 1992; Kavanaugh et al 1997). In addition, there will likely be some mitigation against the effects of the heat island phenomena, as this system does not emit exhaust heat into the atmosphere during air conditioning. However, GSHP systems are not popular except as experimental versions in Japan. This is primarily due to the high cost of boring to run piping underground. For example, such boring costs average about ¥3,000/m (approx. US$30/m) in the USA, whereas the same work is about ¥10,000/m (US$100/m) in Japan.

Determining the optimal size of a ground source heat pump within an air-conditioning system with economic and emission considerations

One of the most challenging issues in modern-day building energy management involves equipping the buildings with more energy efficient facilities. In this paper, a hybrid system for cooling/heating for a residential building is developed and optimized. The system consists of a ground source heat pump (GSHP) as well as an electric chiller (EC) and boiler. The model is implemented in MATLAB ...

Analysis of ground heat exchanger for a ground source heat pump: A study of an existing system to find optimal borehole length to enhance the coefficient of performance

Ground Source Heat Hump is one of the emerging technic to utilize the reservoir of geothermal energy in Europe. The crucial factor is to find the optimal length of the borehole to successfully design a heating system. The length of the borehole varies depending on the geographical area, the capacity of the heat pump and heat load of the desired building in consideration. Several methods have be...

Current status of ground source heat pumps in Europe

Geothermal Heat Pumps, or Ground Source Heat Pumps (GSHP), are systems combining a heat pump with a ground heat exchanger (closed loop systems), or fed by ground water from a well (open loop systems). They use the earth as a heat source when operating in heating mode, with a fluid (usually water or a water-antifreeze-mixture) as the media transferring the heat from the earth to the evaporator o...
