چکیده
We firstly conducted a case-control study to investigate the role of two SNPs in MLL3 gene (rs6943984 and rs4725443) in the development of laryngeal cancer in a Chinese population. Between May 2012 and October 2014, a total of 171 patients with laryngeal cancer and 251 control subjects were collected from the Zhumadian Central Hospital. Genotyping of MLL3 rs6943984 and rs4725443 were analyzed using polymerase chain reaction coupled with restriction fragment length polymorphism. The chi-square test revealed that individuals with the laryngeal cancer were more likely to be males, have a habit of tobacco smoking and alcohol drinking, and have a habit of family history of cancer. By unconditional logistic regression analyses, we found that subjects carrying GG genotype of rs6943984 was associated with increased risk of laryngeal cancer compared to the AA genotype (Adjusted OR=3.58, 95% CI=1.54-8.81). In the dominant model, the AA+GG genotype of rs6943984 was marginal significant correlated with an increased risk of laryngeal cancer compared to the wide-type genotype (Adjusted OR=1.60, 95% CI=1.03-2.49). Moreover, the GG genotype of rs6943984 was associated with a heavy increased risk of laryngeal cancer compared to the AA+AG genotype (Adjusted OR=3.37, 95% CI=1.47-8.23). However, we did not find any significant association between the rs4725443 gene polymorphism and laryngeal cancer risk. In conclusion, our study suggests that the rs6943984 polymorphism was associated with increased risk of laryngeal cancer in co-dominant, dominant and recessive models.

Interaction between MLL3 genetic polymorphisms, smoking, and alcohol drinking in laryngeal cancer: a case–control study
A previous study indicated that MLL3 genetic polymorphisms were associated with human cancer. However, whether MLL3 genetic variants are associated with the risk of laryngeal cancer is not clear. This study investigated the association between MLL3 gene polymorphisms and laryngeal cancer in a Chinese population. Four polymorphisms of the MLL3 gene (rs6943984, rs4725443, rs3800836, rs6464211) we...
متن کاملNo association between single nucleotide polymorphisms in pre-mirnas and the risk of gastric cancer in Chinese population
Objective(s): Accumulating evidence has demonstrated that miRNAs contribute to various genetic and epigenetic modifications in the pathogenesis of gastric cancer (GC). Recent studies focused on the four single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of pre-miRNAs including rs11614913, rs3746444, rs2910164, and rs2292832. It was suggested that these four SNPs were significantly associated with the risk ...
متن کاملA missense mutation (S3660L) in MLL3 gene influences risk of gastric cancer.
PURPOSE Several studies indicated that the expression level of MLL3 gene in gastric cancer tissue was associated with prognosis, and previous studies also suggested that genetic polymorphisms of MLL3 were related to the risk for gastric cancer. The present study aimed to investigate the association of a missense mutation (S3660L) in the MLL3 gene with gastric cancer risk in a Chinese population...
متن کاملAssociation between XRCC1 polymorphisms and laryngeal cancer susceptibility in a Chinese sample population.
Laryngeal cancer is the major malignant tumor affecting the upper respiratory tract. Previous studies have reported on the association between XRCC1 genetic polymorphisms and risk of laryngeal cancer, but with conflicting results. In this study, we attempted to assess the association between XRCC1 Arg194Trp, Arg280His and Arg399Gln polymorphisms and risk of laryngeal cancer in a Chinese populat...
