چکیده

A vigorous search continues for drugs capable of alleviating those connective tissue diseases which are mediated by immunological mechanisms. The experimental disorder caused in rats by the injection of Freund's complete adjuvant or of mycobacteria suspended in oil has been used extensively to test compounds for this purpose. Adjuvant disease, of which polyarthritis is a prominent feature, is highly reproducible and is believed to be the result of a delayed hypersensitivity reaction against antigen(s) associated with the peptide-glyco-lipides of the wax D fraction of the mycobacteria or of the nocardia (Bonhomme, 1967; Pearson, Wood, and Tanaka, 1968). This paper reports a study of adjuvant disease under treatment with the new cytotoxic drug, Rubidomycin. Rubidomycin (Fig. 1), an anthracycline derivative with antibiotic properties (Dubc Ninet, Pinnert, Preud'homme, a is known to possess cytotoxic ac

Study on anti inflammatory effect of scorpion (Mesobuthus eupeus) venom in adjuvant-induced arthritis in rats

Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune disease that causes chronic inflammation of the joints as well as other organs in the body. Adjuvant-induced arthritis models in inbred rats serve as relevant models for RA, having many clinical similarities to this disease. Using honey bee venom as a treatment for Rheumatoid arthritis is an ancient therapy in various parts of the world. However scorpion ve...

Effect of Losartan in Complete Freund’s Adjuvant –Induced Arthritis in Rats

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune inflammatory disease characterized by joint infiltration and bone damage. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the beneficial effects of losartan in adjuvant-induced arthritis (AIA). Arthritis was induced in rats by subcutaneous injection of 0.2ml of Complete Freund’s adjuvant (CFA) in the planter surface of the hind paw. Arthritic rats were al...

Studies of adjuvant-induced arthritis in the albino rat (CFN strain).

The need for more effective, but less toxic, drugs for treatment of diseases of the connective tissue in man is obvious. There is evidence which indicates that arthritis and certain other connective tissue diseases are caused by hypersensitive mechanisms (Pearson, 1959). Adjuvant-induced arthritis has been widely used as an experimental model of such diseases. The severity of the experimental d...

Study on anti inflammatory effect of subcutaneous honey bee venom injection and dermal application of cream containing honey bee venom in adjuvant-induced arthritic rats

Honey bee sting is used in some societies as a treatment of inflammation in joint diseases such as arthritis. To investigate the effect of honey bee venom in reducing inflammation, we selected 30 male Wister rats which were divided in to 6 groups. Except group 1, all remaining groups received 0.5 ml of complete Freund’s adjuvant to induce arthritis. After 9 days, all animals that received adj...
