The Validation of a New GSTA Case in a Dynamic Coastal Environment Using Morphodynamic Modelling and Bathymetric Monitoring

چکیده
Several methods of monitoring sediment transport exist and have varying degrees of success depending on the study sites characteristics. Grain Size Trend Analysis (GSTA) is an experimental method based on identifying transport trends from the variation of sediment grain characteristics within a defined study area. The parameters examined when performing GSTA are mean grain size, sorting coefficient and skewness, the most common cases found in field studies being; finer, better sorted and negatively skewed (FB ́) or coarser, better sorted and positively skewed (CB+), as most transport trends follow one or the other trend. However, on Rossbeigh beach, Co. Kerry, Ireland, a coarser poorer and more negatively skewed (CP ́) trend case gave the most realistic plot of sediment transport trend when compared with sediment transport calculation, bathymetry surveys, hydrodynamic monitoring and morphological modelling.

An Unstructured Grid Morphodynamic Model with a Discontinuous Galerkin Method for Bed Evolution
A new unstructured grid two-dimensional, depth-integrated (2DDI), morphodynamic model is presented for the prediction of morphological evolutions in shallow water. This modelling system consists of two coupled model components: i.) a well verified and validated continuous Galerkin (CG) finite element hydrodynamic model; and ii.) a new sediment transport/bed evolution model that uses a discontin...
متن کاملDesigning a new multi-objective fuzzy stochastic DEA model in a dynamic environment to estimate efficiency of decision making units (Case Study: An Iranian Petroleum Company)
This paper presents a new multi-objective fuzzy stochastic data envelopment analysis model (MOFS-DEA) under mean chance constraints and common weights to estimate the efficiency of decision making units for future financial periods of them. In the initial MOFS-DEA model, the outputs and inputs are characterized by random triangular fuzzy variables with normal distribution, in which ...
متن کاملSteady-State and Dynamic Simulations of Gas Absorption Column Using MATLAB and SIMULINK
Separation is one of the most important process in all the chemical industries and the gas absorption is the simplest example of separation process which is generally used for the absorption of dilute components from a gaseous mixture. In the present work, a dynamic system of mathematical equation (algebraic and differential) is modeled to predict the behavior of the absorption column using mat...
متن کاملApplicability of a coastal morphodynamic model for fluvial environments
The dominant processes of sediment transport and morphological changes are different between rivers and coastal areas. In many situations rivers, estuaries and coasts need to be modelled together in an integrated way. This paper investigates the capability of a freely available, open source, coastal morphodynamic software (XBeach) to estimate sediment transport and morphological changes in fluv...
