Production of Antibiotics in Rhodococcus

چکیده
Introduction. The genus Rhodococcus is a non-sporeforming, high GC Gram-positive bacterium, a member of phylum Actinobacteria. Research studies for Rhodococcus have been mainly focused on its great ability to degrade recalcitrant chemicals such as poly-chlorinated biphenyls and dioxins (1, 2). Also, their pathogenic features have been intensively studied in limited species. However, only a few antibiotic producing Rhodococcus has been reported so far. In our recent study, numbers of strains showing the production ability were discovered for the first time (3, 4). It indicates that Rhodococcus is a good resource for new antibiotics and its biosynthesis genes, and also indicates that Rhodococcus might be a good host microorganism for the production of antibiotics. In this study, we tried to improve host-vector system and to develop antibiotic production system in Rhodococcus.

Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Activity of Carotenoid Pigment Produced by Native Rhodococcus spp. Isolated From Soil
In recent years, scientists and researchers from all over the world pay much attention to carotenoid pigments as a substitute for antibiotics and synthetic chemical compounds with antioxidant property and the plants, various microorganisms including bacteria and algae are also capable of producing carotenoid pigments. In this research, the production of antimicrobial and antioxidant carotenoid ...
متن کاملNitrilase-catalyzed production of pyrazinoic acid, an antimycobacterial agent, from cyanopyrazine by resting cells of Rhodococcus rhodochrous J1.
Using resting cells of Rhodococcus rhodochrous J1, in which a large amount of nitrilase is induced, a simple and efficient bioconversion process for the production of pyrazinoic acid, an antimycobacterial agent, through catalysis by a nitrilase was developed. The reaction conditions for production of pyrazinoic acid were optimized. Under optimum conditions, 3.5 M cyanopyrazine was converted to ...
متن کاملImprovement of Desulfurization Performance of Rhodococcus erythropolis IGTS8 by Assembling Spherical Mesoporous Silica Nanosorbents on the Surface of the Bacterial Cells
MCM-41 mesoporous silica is synthesized based on a self assembly method, using a quaternary ammonium template, CTAB for the adsorption of sulfur compounds from model oil (1.0 mmol/l DBT in dodecane solution). Then the adsorption capability of MCM-41 assembled on the surface of bacterium Rhodococcus erythropolis IGTS8 is examined regarding the improvement of the biodesulfurization process of...
متن کاملStudy of Desulfurization Rate in Rhodococcus FMF Native Bacterium
The Rhodococcus FMF (R. FMF) native bacterium was isolated from soil contaminated with oil in Tabrizrefinery. This bacterium carries three genes sox (dszA, B, C) on its genomic DNA. Preliminary studieshave proved that R. FMF strain possess desulfurization activity. In this work soxA and B genes wereamplified by PCR, after designing a pair of suitable primers. Analysis of PCR p...
متن کاملA Case of Recurrent Meningitis Caused by Rhodococcus species Successfully Treated with Antibiotic Treatment and Intrathecal Injection of Vancomycin through an Ommaya Reservoir
Human infection by Rhodococcus species is rare and mostly limited to immunocompromised hosts such as patients infected with the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) or organ transplant recipients. The most common strain is R. equi, and the most common clinical presentation is pulmonary infection, reported in 80% of Rhodococcus spp. infections. The central nervous system is an uncommon infection s...
