Finger trocar: a safe method for entering the peritoneal cavity during laparoscopy in obese patients

چکیده
techniQUe After dissection through the abdominal wall, the anastomosis between the bladder and stoma is identified. The lateral edges of the bladder are plicated around the anastomosis in a manner similar to that of a Nissen fundoplication using 3/0 Vicryl® sutures (Ethicon Inc, Somerville, NJ, US) (Fig 1). The surgeon must leave enough slack on the suture to ensure easy passage of a 12Fr LoFric® catheter (Astra Tech, Stonehouse, UK) into the bladder. Having had this procedure, three patients regained continence with a maximum follow-up of 16 months.

Cameraless Peritoneal Entry in Abdominal Laparoscopy
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Despite significant advances in laparoscopic instrumentation and techniques, injury to intraabdominal structures remains a potentially serious complication of peritoneal access. Consensus on the best method to obtain peritoneal access is lacking. A safe technique that does not rely on direct visualization of the abdominal layers could shorten the learning curve for sur...
متن کاملModified Open Technique: A Safe Approach for Laparoscopic Entry
Objective: To describe the safety of the modified open technique for accessing the abdominal cavity and creation of pneumoperitoneum in gynecologic laparoscopy. Methods: A descriptive retrospective chart review of 100 patients who underwent gynecologic laparoscopy at the Jordanian Royal Medical Services Hospitals during the period from January 2008 to December 2009 was conducted. We used the mo...
متن کاملLaparoscopy after previous laparotomy.
Following the abdominal surgery, extensive adhesions often occur and they can cause difficulties during laparoscopic operations. However, previous laparotomy is not considered to be a contraindication for laparoscopy. The aim of this study is to present that an insertion of Veres needle in the region of umbilicus is a safe method for creating a pneumoperitoneum for laparoscopic operations after...

Background: Laparoscopic techniques for the placement of peritoneal dialysis catheters are becoming increasingly popular. Recently, with the improvements in laparoscopic surgery, various methods for the insertion of peritoneal dialysis catheters have been reported, indicating that the laparoscopic insertion is preferred over the open and percutaneous techniques. The aim of this study was to int...
متن کاملThe Direct Trocar Technique: An Alternative Approach to Abdominal Entry for Laparoscopy
OBJECTIVE The direct trocar technique is an alternative to Veress needle insertion and open laparoscopy for accessing the abdominal cavity for operative laparoscopy. We review our approach to abdominal entry in 1385 laparoscopies performed between September 1993 and June 2000 by our group at Stanford University Hospital, a tertiary Medical Center. METHODS We performed a retrospective chart re...
