A Dialogue Grammar for the Cars Database

چکیده
We describe an empirically based approach tothe computational management of dialogues. It isbased on an explicit theoretically motivated positionregarding the status of computational models, where itis claimed that computational models of discourse canonly be about computers’ processing of language. Thedialogue model is based on an extensive analysis ofcollected dialogues from various application domains.Issues concerning computational tractability has alsobeen decisive for its development. It is concluded thata simple dialogue grammar based model is sufficientfor the management of dialogues with natural lan-guage interfaces. We also describe the grammar usedby the dialogue manager for a Natural Language inter-face for a database system.

Towards an automated directory information system
This paper describes a design and feasibility study for a large-scale automatic directory information system with a scalable architecture. The current demonstrator, called PADIS-XL, operates in realtime and handles a database of a medium-size German city with 130,000 listings. The system uses a new technique of taking a combined decision on the joint probability over multiple dialogue turns, an...
متن کاملThe natural language component - STINA
In this paper we will give a short overview of a dialogue system and describe the natural language and dialogue component in detail. Our work in this project is focused on a sublanguage grammar, a grammar limited to a particular subject domain that of requesting information from a transportation database. Our parser, STINA, is knowledge based and is designed as a probabilistic language model. I...
متن کاملAn Implemented HPSG Grammar for SHARDS
This report is an extension of (Gregory 2001) and presents an overview of the implementation of the HPSG grammar currently used in SHARDS —a Semantically-based HPSG Approach to the Resolution of Dialogue Fragments (Ginzburg, Gregory, and Lappin 2001). The grammar is based on the theoretical framework presented in (Ginzburg and Sag 2001) and it is encoded in ProFIT (Erbach 1995).

The Philips automatic telephone switchboard and directory information system PADIS provides a natural-language user interface to a telephone directory database. Using speech recognition and language understanding technologies, the system offers phone numbers, fax numbers, email addresses, and room numbers as well as direct call completion to a desired party. In this paper, we present the underl...
متن کاملA form-based dialogue manager for spoken language applications
A popular approach to dialogue management is based on a finitestate model, where user utterances trigger transitions between the dialogue states, and these states, in turn, determine the system’s response. This paper describes an alternative dialogue planning algorithm based on the notion of filling in an electronic form, or “Eform.” Each slot has associated prompts that guide the user through ...
