چکیده

The results of three-dimensional numerical simulations of mass transfer in semide-tached binaries after mass transfer termination is presented and the structure of residual accretion disk was investigated. It was shown that after the mass transfer termination the quasi-elliptic accretion disk becomes circular. It was also shown that the cessation of mass transfer results in changing of the structure of the accretion disk: the second arm of spiral shock is appeared as well as a new dense formation (blob), the latter moving through the disk with variable velocity. The blob doesn't smear out under the action of dissipation but is sustained by interaction with arms of spiral shock for practically all the lifetime of the disk. We also analyze the dependence of disk's lifetime on the value of viscosity. For the value of parameter α that is typical for observing accretion disk (α ∼ 0.01) the lifetime of residual disk is found to be equal to 50 orbital periods.

Over the past three years, our confidence in the inferred values of cosmological parameters has increased dramatically, confirming that the flat matter dominated Universe that dominated cosmological model building for the past 20 years does not correspond to the Universe in which we live. I review recent developments here and quote best fit current values for fundamental cosmological parameters.

The highly convergent iterative methods developed by Trujillo Bueno and Fabiani Bendicho (1995) for radia-tive transfer (RT) applications are generalized to spherical symmetry with velocity fields. These RT methods are based on Jacobi, Gauss-Seidel (GS), and SOR iteration and they form the basis of a new NLTE multilevel transfer code for atomic and molecular lines. The benchmark tests carried o...

The monitoring of the gravitational lens Q2237+0305 carried out by the OGLE group during 1997–1999 is analyzed. The significant light amplifications in the C and A quasar components with maxima in mid-and late 1999, respectively, are interpreted as the crossing of microlens caustics by the source. A constraint on the emitting-region size R ≤ 10 15 cm has been obtained from the light-curve shape...
