چکیده

Asplünd’s metric, which is useful for pattern matching, consists in a double-sided probing, i.e. the over-graph and the sub-graph of a function are probed jointly. This paper extends the Asplünd’s metric we previously defined for colour and multivariate images using a marginal approach (i.e. component by component) to the first spatiocolour Asplünd’s metric based on the vectorial colour LIP model (LIPC). LIPC is a non-linear model with operations between colour images which are consistent with the human visual system. The defined colour metric is insensitive to lighting variations and a variant which is robust to noise is used for colour pattern matching.

Asplünd's metric defined in the Logarithmic Image Processing (LIP) framework: A new way to perform double-sided image probing for non-linear grayscale pattern matching

The present paper focuses on non-linear pattern matching based on the Logarithmic Image Processing (LIP) Model. Our contribution consists first of using the scalar multiplication defined in the LIP context to extend the little-known Asplünd’s metric to gray level images. Such a metric is explainable as a novel technique of double-sided image probing and presents the decisive advantage of being ...

Modelling and segmentation of colour images in polar representations

The suitability of polar representation for quantitative image processing tasks is investigated. The classical colour polar-based representations (HLS, HSV, etc.) lead to brightness and saturation with nonconsistent properties. After a short critical analysis of the gamma correction, a new polar representation using the L1 norm is proposed. It satisfies several quantitative requirements. The re...

A New Generic Colour Full Reference Metric

Color image quality depends on many factors, such as the initial capture system and its colour image processing, compression, restoration, transmission, the output device, media and associated viewing conditions. In this paper, we propose a new efficient full reference image quality assessment metric, which is based on human visual system proprieties in order to get the best correspondence with...

Comparison of Colour Difference Methods for Natural Images

Perceptual colour difference in simple colour patches has been extensively studied in the history of colour science. However, these methods are not assumed to be applicable for predicting the perceived colour difference in complex colour patches such as digital images of complex scene. In this work existing metrics that predict the perceived colour difference in digital images of complex scene...

Image Enhancement Techniques for Grey Scale and Colour Images: A Survey

The main aim of image enhancement is to improve the interpretability or perception of information in images for human viewers, or to provide better input for other automated image processing techniques. Many techniques for enhancement of grey scale images such as histogram equalization, contrast stretching etc. can be found in the literature. But those methods are not directly applicable to the...
