Visual sensor-based measurement for deformable peg-in-hole tasks

چکیده
Unlike rigid parts, deformable parts can be deformed by contact force during assembly. For successful assembly, information about their deformation as well as possible misalignments between the holes and their respective mating parts are essential. In this paper, the locations of marks in threedimensional space are identified by using a visual sensing system. And part deformation and misalignment in deformable cylindrical peg-in-hole tasks are measured by using the sensing system. Experimental results show that the system and the measurement algorithm are effective in measuring part deformation and misalignment, thereby dramatically increasing the success rate in assembly operations.

Comparison of 3-D haptic peg-in-hole tasks in real and virtual environments
We describe an experimental arrangement for comparison of user performance during a real and a virtual 3-D peg-in-hole task. Tasks are performed using a unique six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) magnetic levitation haptic device. The arrangement allows a user to exert and experience real and virtual forces using the same 6-DOF device. During the virtual task, a peg and hole are rendered haptically, ...

We describe two experiments using three testbeds (real, virtual and vision-only) for comparison of user performance during 3-D peg-in-hole tasks. Tasks are performed using a six-degree-of-freedom (6-DOF) magnetic levitation haptic device. The experimental design allows a user to experience real and virtual forces using the same device. The first experiment compares real and virtual tasks. In th...

Visual tracking is applicable to many tasks in robotic assembly and inspection, including peg-in-hole insertion , alignment of parts, and gaze control. A fast, robust, hybrid approach to feature tracking is presented. Rotation-compensated normalized cross-correlation is used to handle large rotations. Adaptive templates allow for some changes in lighting and background. The tracking system runs...

This paper focuses on peg-in-hole assembly based on a two-phase scheme and force/torque sensor (F/T sensor) for a compliant dual-arm robot, the Baxter robot. The coordinated operations of human beings in assembly applications are applied to the behaviors of the robot. A two-phase assembly scheme is proposed to overcome the inaccurate positioning of the compliant dual-arm robot. The position and...
