چکیده

We calculate the nucleonic and pionic dispersion relations at finite temperature (T ) and non-vanishing chemical potentials (μf ) in the context of an effective chiral theory that describes the strong and electromagnetic interactions for nucleons and pions. The dispersion relations are calculated in the broken chiral symmetry phase, where the nucleons are massive and pions are taken as massless. The calculation is performed at lowest order in the energy expansion, working in the framework of the real time formalism of thermal field theory in the Feynman gauge. These one-loop dispersion relations are obtained at leading order with respect to T and μf . We also evaluate the effective masses of the quasi-nucleon and quasi-pion excitations in thermal and chemical conditions as the ones of a neutron star.

The Delta-hole Model at Finite Temperature *

The spectral function of pions interacting with a gas of nucleons and ∆ 33-resonances is investigated using the formalism of Thermo Field Dynamics. After a discussion of the zero ∆-width approximation at finite temperature, we take into account a constant width of the resonance. Apart from a full numerical calculation, we give analytical approximations to the pionic spectral function including ...

Ja n 19 99 preprint INP 1816 / PH Subtracted Dispersion Relations for In - Medium Meson Correlators in QCD Sum Rules ⋆ Wojciech Florkowski and Wojciech Broniowski

We analyze subtracted dispersion relations for meson correlators at finite baryon density and temperature. Such relations are needed for QCD sum rules. We point out the importance of scattering terms, as well as finite, well-defined subtraction constants. Both are necessary for consistency, in particular for the equality of the longitudinal and transverse correlators in the limit of the vanishi...

Properties of ρ and ω Mesons at Finite Temperature and Density as Inferred from Experiment

The mass shift, width broadening, and spectral density for the ρ and ω mesons in a heat bath of nucleons and pions are calculated using a general formula which relates the self-energy to the real and imaginary parts of the forward scattering amplitude. We use experimental data to saturate the scattering amplitude at low energies with resonances and include a background Pomeron term, while at hi...

Density effects on the pion dispersion relation at finite temperature

We study the behavior of the pion dispersion relation in a pion medium at finite density and temperature, introducing a chemical potential to describe the finite pion number density. Such description is particularly important during the hadronic phase of a relativistic heavy-ion collision, between chemical and thermal freeze-out, where the pion number changing processes, driven by the strong in...
