Implicit numerical integration of a three-invariant, isotropic/kinematic hardening cap plasticity model for geomaterials
نویسنده
چکیده
The mechanical constitutive behavior of geomaterials is quite complex, involving pressure-sensitive yielding, differences in strength in triaxial extension vs. compression, the Bauschinger effect, dependence on porosity, and other factors. Capturing these behaviors necessitates the use of fairly complicated and expensive non-linear material models. For elastically isotropic materials, such models usually involve three-invariant plasticity formulations. Spectral decomposition has been used to increase the efficiency of numerical simulation for such models for the isotropically hardening case. We modify the spectral decomposition technique to models that include kinematic hardening. Finally, we perform some numerical simulations to demonstrate quadratic convergence. 2005 Elsevier B.V. Integration method for constitutive equation of von Mises elastoplasticity with linear hardening
This paper presents a summary of the new semi-analytical integration method presented in [10] for von Mises elastoplasticity model with combined linear isotropic-kinematic hardening within a small deformation range. Solutions for the case of constant strain rate and constant stress rate assumptions are also presented. Furthemore, it is shown how the general solution reduces to the particular ca...
متن کاملStress Integration of the Drucker–prager Material Model with Kinematic Hardening
This paper presents a method for implicit stress integration of the Drucker–Prager material model with kinematic hardening. The stress integration of the material model is conducted using the incremental plasticity method, while the kinematic hardening of material is defined using nonlinear Armstrong–Frederick hardening. This type of granular material hardening occurs as a consequence of the cy...
متن کاملHardening plasticity for geomaterials: micromechanical roots and alternative formulations
Hardening plasticity has a long history in constitutive modelling, with many applications in geomechanics. Mathematical models of non-hardening plasticity involve the definition of a single stationary yield surface in stress-space. Examples include the conventional models of elasto-plasticity, often based on the yield criteria of Tresca, von Mises, and Mohr-Coulomb. Within the yield surface the...
متن کاملCalibration of Hardening Rules for Cyclic Plasticity
In the realm of multi-axial ratcheting, a step by step mathematical approach is developed for the parameter determination of decomposed kinematic hardening rules. For this purpose, key characteristics are mathematically derived for these hardening rules under multi-axial loading. These characteristics are then utilized to develop expressions which relate the loading history to the accumulated p...
متن کاملA Constitutive Model for Sands
In this paper, an elastoplastic constitutive model is presented for predicting sandy soil behavior under monotonic and cyclic loadings. The model is based on the CJS3 model that takes into account deviatoric and isotropic mechanisms of plasticity. The flow rule in deviatoric mechanism is non-associated and a kinematic hardening law controls the evolution of the yield surface. In the present s...
