چکیده

This paper presents open loop characteristics of the flexure stage based single input single output (SISO) nanopositioning device. The dynamic characteristics of the device have been analyzed. System characteristics can be improved by using different types of feedback controllers. To provide consistent, reliable and safe solution to the industrial control problems, different tuning schemes such as Ziegler Nichols and automatic tuning for Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller have been presented. Effectiveness of the proposed controller has been analyzed. Robust response time tuning of PID controller using adjustment performance parameters and robustness strategy has been done and analyzed. The effectiveness of the proposed control scheme for precise position tracking control of nanopositioning system has been demonstrated by simulation of results in MATLAB. Comparative analysis of different tuning techniques of PID controller has also demonstrated.

Design and Analysis of a New XYZ Parallel Flexure Stage

In this paper, the design of a new compliant XYZ totally decoupled parallel-kinematic nanopositioning stage based on flexure mechanism is presented, which is driven by PZT actuators. The output of the flexure stage is enlarged by a compound amplifier of three order based on bridge principle with the amplification ratio of As which is larger than the ratio of As for one simple amplifier. The thr...

Design of a Large Range Xy Nanopositioning System

Achieving large motion range (> 1mm) along with nanometric motion quality (< 10nm), simultaneously, has been a key challenge in nanopositioning systems. Practical limitations associated with the individual physical components (bearing, actuators, and sensors) and their integration, particularly in the case of multi-axis systems, have restricted the range of currently available nanopositioning s...

Invited review article: high-speed flexure-guided nanopositioning: mechanical design and control issues.

Recent interest in high-speed scanning probe microscopy for high-throughput applications including video-rate atomic force microscopy and probe-based nanofabrication has sparked attention on the development of high-bandwidth flexure-guided nanopositioning systems (nanopositioners). Such nanopositioners are designed to move samples with sub-nanometer resolution with positioning bandwidth in the ...

Integrated Design and Control of Flexure-Based Nanopositioning Systems Part I: Methodology

Flexure-based mechanisms, also referred to as flexures, are widely being used as motion-guidance, or bearing, elements in applications requiring multi-degree-of-freedom positioning and alignment. Unlike friction-bearings (such as sliding or rolling contact bearings), flexures can be designed to offer, to a large extent, reliable linear elastic motion with a high resolution (on the order of nano...

MEMS-Based Nanopositioning for On-Chip Atomic Force Microscopy

An important component of an atomic force microscope is a nanopositioner that moves the sample, relative to the probe, in a raster pattern. A typical AFM nanopositioner is a large, heavy flexure-guided mechanism machined from a solid block of steel or aluminum, with incorporated actuators and displacement sensors. The most widely used actuation technology for nanopositioning is the piezoelectri...
