The making of Growth I: Morphogenesis

چکیده
In ancient times art and science had a close relationship with one another, and it was quite usual for artistic imagination to be deeply connected with, and to develop alongside, the natural scientific outlook of the age. Although specialization has long since resulted in a branching off of these two activities, the fundamental factors and considerations involved in the creation of art remain the same as those involving creation in the domain of nature: operations and manipulations of form, color, texture, and their related dynamic changes. Thus, as a first step in the process of artistic creation, one ought to fix one's eyes on the relevant object and clearly observe the wonder of cause and effect, the interplay of natural forces that result in the object's production. By first developing a deep appreciation and understanding of the common principles underlying many of the objects found in nature, one truly begins the endeavor of art. For example, we may ask, why does nature consistently make precise and beautiful variations of recurring themes in many of its forms? We cannot but admire and wonder at the marvel of common fundamental principles occurring in many of nature's changing compositions. There is some evidence of this outlook in the prehistoric visual images that can be found in the cave wall paintings and sculptures of the Stone Age, expressing the belief of the people of that time in such primitive religions as shamanism and animism. Life in the Stone Age must have been much more closely bound to nature than we can imagine. The ancient development of astronomy, geometry, and mathematics in general, including many important theories, were obviously stimulated by the necessities of natural life. Such architectural masterpieces of ancient times as the pyramids and Stonehenge were supported by and helped to stimulate the development of the fields of astronomy, general mathematics, and geometry.

A Chick Embryo in-Vitro Model of Knee Morphogenesis
Background: In this feasibility study, a mechanically loaded in-vitro tissue culture model of joint morphogenesis using the isolated lower extremity of the 8 day old chick embryo was developed to assess the effects of mechanical loading on joint morphogenesis. Methods: The developed in-vitro system allows controlled flexion and extension of the chick embryonic knee with a range of motion of ...

Objective(s):Skin extracellular matrix, which contains type I and type III collagens, is involved in skin development. The aim of this study was to investigate type III collagen distribution pattern as well as its changes during pre and post-natal skin morphogenesis in rats. Materials and Methods: Ventral skins of Wistar rat embryos at different stages from 10 to 20 gestational day (E10-E20) a...

متن کاملExtensions of ELECTRE-I and TOPSIS methods for group decision-making under complex Pythagorean fuzzy environment
Multi-criteria group decision-making is a process in which decision makers assess the performance of alternatives on the basis of conflicting criteria to opt the most worthy alternative as solution. TOPSIS and ELECTRE are effective and commonly used methods to solve multiple criteria decision-making problems. The aim of this study is to propose two new models, namely, complex Pythagorean fuzzy ...
متن کاملColocalization of TGF-beta 1 and collagen I and III, fibronectin and glycosaminoglycans during lung branching morphogenesis.
The possible in vivo role of TGF-beta 1 in regulating various proteins of the extracellular matrix, including fibronectin, collagen I and III, and glycosaminoglycans, was examined by immunohistochemical methods during critical stages of lung morphogenesis in the 11- to 18-day-old mouse embryo. Sections of Bouin-fixed, paraffin-embedded whole embryos were exposed to polyclonal antibodies specifi...
