چکیده
Meningeal solitary fibrous tumor (SFT) is a rare tumor and is different from fibroblastic meningiomas (FM) and hemangiopericytoma (HPC). SFTs account for 0.09% of all meningeal tumors.[1-3] Compared to meningiomas the SFTs show a predilection for the posterior fossa and spine.[1,2] Most of these tumors are benign, however, local recurrence have been reported.[3] Gengler and Guillou[4] in a review described SFT as one of the HPClike tumor of meninges.[4] Differentiation of SFT from HPC is essential because of the therapeutic implications. HPC is a dural-based aggressive mesenchymal tumor and 15-year recurrence rate is 76%.[5] Postoperative radiotherapy therefore is indicated in patients with HCP, whereas the SFTs present a benign clinical course similar to meningiomas and do not recur unless subtotally resected. [2,3] We reported this case of giant SFT of middle cranial fossa because of many unusual features: Rare location, local aggression, and bony erosion. The other unusual feature was internal carotid artery block. Although aggressive looking on imaging, it could be totally excised.

Introduction Spinal dysraphism is a term which was revived by Lichtenstein (1940) under which he grouped disorders arising from cutaneous, mesodermal or neural derivatives of the dorsal median region of the developing embryo. Within this broad classification must be included the sub-groups of spina bifida aperta with myeloschisis, myelomeningocele or meningocele and spina bifida occulta with or...
متن کاملDermoid Cysts of Conus Medullaris and Cauda Equina Cord: A Case Report
Background and Importance: Conus medullaris dermoid cysts are benign lesions, usually observed in the lumbosacral region of the spinal canal. Such lesions are often associated with congenital dermal sinus tracts and spinal dysraphism. Case Presentation: We reported a 37-year-old man with progressive paralysis in left lower limb distal presented to our clinic. The MRI of the lumbar spine, as...

We herein report a rare case of intraspinal ectopic endometrial tissue associated with tethered cord syndrome. The patient underwent MR imaging of the lumbar spine and CT spinal angiography. Asymptomatic dysraphism was also detected, including spinal bifida, low-lying conus medullaris, spinal meningocele and a lumbosacral lipoma. Venous reflux obstruction was also suggested. The patient underwe...
متن کاملPrevention of diagnostic errors in position of conus medullaris in adult patients
Background and aims: Finding the safe location of spinal cord for cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) during surgical procedures is very important due to its various nature for each patient as well as its potential peripheral nervous system hazards. The aim of this study was to find the relationship between the location of conus medullaris (CM) and gender, age and body mass index (BMI) in order to minimi...
