Effective skeletons extraction for animated surfaces based on geometry propagation
نویسندگان
چکیده
We introduce a registration based propagation strategy to extract temporally coherent skeletons from the animated surfaces. We first extract complete skeletons for the key frames of the animated surfaces, and present a spatio-temporal L1-medial skeleton extraction method to extract the initial skeletons for the immediate frames between the key frames. As these initial skeletons may not be complete, we then develop a global skeleton alignment method, which effectively warps the key skeleton to these initial skeletons sequently. By using the geometry merging, we propagate the geometry of the warped key skeleton to the initial skeletons, and produce temporally coherent skeletons for the input animated surfaces. Our system can be applied to the raw scanned animated object and requires only minimal user interaction to extract complete and temporally coherent animated skeletons.

Controlled Metamorphosis Between Skeleton-Driven Animated Polyhedral Meshes of Arbitrary Topologies
Enabling animators to smoothly transform between animated meshes of differing topologies is a long-standing problem in geometric modelling and computer animation. In this paper, we propose a new hybrid approach built upon the advantages of scalar-field-based models (often called implicit surfaces) which can easily change their topology by changing their defining scalar field. Given two meshes, ...
متن کاملInvestigation of Effective Parameters of the Two-Layer Sheet Hydroforming Process for Hollow Parts with Complex Geometry
AbstractHydroforming process is a deep stretching process only with the difference that a fluid is used instead of the mandrel. This paper investigates the hydroforming process of non-cylindrical and non-spherical geometries using finite element analysis software to calculate the influences of effective process parameters such as the coefficient of friction between the surfaces and the pressure...
متن کاملEfficient feature tracking of time-varying surfaces using multi-scale motion flow propagation
This paper presents a framework for efficient feature tracking of time-varying surfaces. The framework can not only capture the dynamic geometry features on the time-varying surfaces, but also can compute the accurate boundaries of the geometry features. The basic idea of the proposed approach is using the multi-scale motion flow and surface matching information to propagate the feature frame o...
متن کاملAnimation of Deformable Models Using Implicit Surfaces
This paper presents a general approach for designing and animating complex deformable models with implicit surfaces. Implicit surfaces are introduced as an extra layer coating any kind of structure that moves and deforms over time. Offering a compact definition of a smooth surface around an object, they provide an efficient collision detection mechanism. The implicit layer deforms in order to g...
متن کاملCurve-skeleton extraction using silhouettes’ medial axes
A new method of curve-skeleton extraction is proposed in this paper. Unlike most methods this approach retrieves information from a polygonal mesh via rasterization and extraction of silhouettes’ continuous medial axes. Described method shows a great improvement in computational time comparing to existing methods. Method shows good extraction results for models with complex geometry and topolog...
