چکیده
Dear Editor, Pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis (Pauciimmune CGN) is the most common cause of CGN. Thrombotic microangiopathy (TMA) defi nes a clinicopathological syndrome consisting of intraluminal platelet thrombosis in the microvasculature and the presence of fragmented red blood cells and thrombocytopaenia in the peripheral blood, and may be seen in haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS), thrombotic thrombocytopaenic purpura (TTP) and other conditions. Co-existence of TMA and pauciimmune CGN is rare. We describe a case of anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic antibody (ANCA)-negative pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis with microangiopathic haemolytic anaemia and histopathological evidence of TMA.

Antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody-negative Pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis.
Pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis (CrGN) is one of the most common causes of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. The majority of patients with pauci-immune CrGN had circulating antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody (ANCA). However, patients with ANCA-negative pauci-immune CrGN were not investigated fully. This study aimed to analyze the characteristics of this subgroup of patient...

Pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis (CrGN) is one of the most common causes of rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. The majority of patients with pauciimmune CrGN have circulating antineutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies (ANCA). Approximately 10% of systemic vasculitides patients test negative for ANCA. Majority of the ANCA negative pauciimmune CrGN described in the literature have n...
متن کاملNative and recombinant proteins to analyze auto-antibodies to myeloperoxidase in pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis.
The prevalence of Anti-Neutrophil Cytoplasmic Antibodies (ANCA) directed against myeloperoxidase (MPO) in pauci-immune necrotizing crescentic glomerulonephritis (NCGN) is dependent on the assay(s) used. We investigated the frequency of MPO-ANCA as detected by different assays for MPO-ANCA in a large cohort of patients with biopsy-proven pauci-immune NCGN. Sera from 121 consecutive untreated pat...
متن کاملDiffuse alveolar haemorrhage in ANCA-negative pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis
Pulmonary renal syndrome (PRS) is a combination of diffuse pulmonary haemorrhage and glomerulonephritis (GN). Though an established form of presentation in anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibody (ANCA)-associated GN and vasculitis, diffuse pulmonary haemorrhage is extremely unusual in those with ANCA-negative GN. We present here a case of a 76-year-old Hispanic female with stage IV chronic ki...
متن کاملAP-VAS 2012 case report: a case of ANCA-negative pauci-immune crescentic glomerulonephritis associated with IL-6-producing adenosquamous cell carcinoma of the lung.
A 76-year-old man with lung cancer and multiple metastases was admitted for purpura and rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis. Adenosquamous cell carcinoma of the lung had been diagnosed 6 months earlier. Two anti-cancer drug regimens had no effect. At admission, his survival with his malignancy was estimated to be several months. Renal biopsy revealed pauci-immune necrotizing crescentic glome...
