چکیده

In this paper, we propose a sequential algorithm that separates cochannel time-division multiple-access (TDMA) signals that encounter multipath interference and noise. The receiver employs a multistage architecture where each stage consists of a beamformer and an equalizer that isolates one source, compensates for intersymbol interference (ISI), and demodulates the data. A problem encountered with such bursty sources is that the beamformer/equalizer trained for a particular time slot may not be appropriate for all the data contained in that slot. This occurs because a cochannel source typically overlaps only part of the time slot of interest and may not overlap the training sequence at all. The algorithm presented here overcomes this problem by processing the data forward and backward in a sequential noncausal manner. Computer simulations using signals with the IS-54 format are presented to demonstrate the properties of the sequential algorithm.

Bit Error Probabilities of Ncfsk and Dpsk Signals in Microcellular Mobile Radio Systems

Introduction: To extend the present mediumjlarge cell mobile radio systems [I] towards ubiquitous communications, the microcellular approach looks promising [Z]. A major problem in cellular radio systems, regardless of having micro or mediumflarge cell architecture, is the presence of cochannel interference because of frequency reuse. Extensive studies on the effects of cochannel interference i...

A Novel Receiver and a Related Performance Bound for Combined Equalization and Decoding of Tcm- Data in Tdma-based Cellular Mobile-radio Systems

This contribution describes a new fast adaptive coherent receiver for the detection of Trellis-Coded-Modulated (TCM) signals transmitted over Time-Division-Multiple-Access (TDMA) based cellular mobile radio links affected by fast-fading multipaths and cochannel interference. The equalization and decoding tasks are jointly accomplished by a Symbol-by-Symbol (SbS)-MAP [8,Sect.6.6] combined equali...

Investigations on Cochannel Interference in an Indoor Tdma-system at 60 Ghz

| In this paper, cochannel interference in a TDMA-system at 60 GHz is investigated. Based on a static coverage prediction for the base stations we investigate the cochannel interference in the system caused by randomly placed mobile stations, thus modeling the dynamic behavior of a cellular network. We will show that frequency division duplex is not necessary due to cochannel interference and t...

Performance of generalized selection combining for mobile radio communications with mixed cochannel interferers

The performance of generalized selection combining (GSC) space diversity for mobile radio systems in the presence of multiple cochannel interferers is studied. Two cochannel interference models are considered: 1) cochannel interferers consisting of Nakagamiinterferers and Rayleigh interferers and 2) cochannel interferers in which each interferer follows Nakagamidistribution for a fraction of ti...

Single Antenna Cochannel Interference Cancellation in Asynchronous TDMA Systems

In this paper, a receiver based on an iterative algorithm for joint channel estimation and cochannel interference cancellation suitable for time-division multiple-access cellular radio systems is proposed. The receiver is blind with respect to the data of the interfering users and training-based w.r.t the data of the desired user and it is therefore referred to as semi-blind. As opposed to conc...
