DISTATIS How to analyze multiple distance matrices

چکیده

DISTATIS is a generalization of classical multidimensional scaling (MDS see the corresponding entry formore details on thismethod) proposed by Abdi et al., (2005). Its goal is to analyze several distance matrices computed on the same set of objects. The name DISTATIS is derived from a technique called STATIS whose goal is to analyze multiple data sets (see the corresponding entry for more details on this method, and Abdi, 2003). DISTATIS first evaluates the similarity between distance matrices. From this analysis, a compromise matrix is computed which represents the best aggregate of the original matrices. The original distance matrices are then projected onto the compromise.

Analyzing Assessors and Products in Sorting Tasks: DISTATIS, Theory and Applications

In this paper we present a new method called DISTATIS that can be applied to the analysis of sorting data. DISTATIS is a generalization of classical multidimensional scaling which allows one to analyze 3-ways distance tables. When used for analyzing sorting tasks, DISTATIS takes into account individual sorting data. Specifically, when DISTATIS is used to analyze the results of an experiment in ...

Distance-Based Partial Least Squares Analysis

Distances matrices are traditionally analyzed with statistical methods that represent distances as maps such as Metric Multidimensional Scaling (MDS), Generalized Procrustes Analysis (GPA), Individual Differences Scaling (INDSCAL), and DISTATIS. MDS analyzes only one distance matrix at a time while GPA, INDSCAL and DISTATIS extract similarities between several distance matrices. However, none o...

How to compute reliability estimates and display confidence and tolerance intervals for pattern classifiers using the Bootstrap and 3-way multidimensional scaling (DISTATIS)

When used to analyze brain imaging data, pattern classifiers typically produce results that can be interpreted as a measure of discriminability or as a distance between some experimental categories. These results can be analyzed with techniques such as multidimensional scaling (MDS), which represent the experimental categories as points on a map. While such a map reveals the configuration of th...

Some new and easy ways to describe, compare, and evaluate products and assessors

Recently, in response to industrial demand to develop faster and cheaper methods of descriptive analysis, several methods have been offered as alternatives to conventional profiling. We present three of these methods: sorting tasks, projective mapping, and flash profiling along with a new statistical method to analyze them. This new statistical method, called DISTATIS is a generalization of cla...
