LQG-MP: Optimized Path Planning for Robots with Motion Uncertainty and Imperfect State Information

چکیده
This paper presents LQG-MP (linear-quadratic Gaussian motion planning), a new approach to robot motion planning that takes into account the sensors and the controller that will be used during execution of the robot’s path. LQGMP is based on the linear-quadratic controller with Gaussian models of uncertainty, and explicitly characterizes in advance (i.e., before execution) the a-priori probability distributions of the state of the robot along its path. These distributions can be used to assess the quality of the path, for instance by computing the probability of avoiding collisions. Many methods can be used to generate the needed ensemble of candidate paths from which the best path is selected; in this paper we report results using the RRT-algorithm. We study the performance of LQG-MP with simulation experiments in three scenarios involving a kinodynamic car-like robot, multi-robot planning with differential-drive robots, and a 6-DOF manipulator.

متن کاملReal-time Planning for Single Agents and Multi-agent Teams in Unknown and Dynamic Environments
As autonomous agents make the transition from solving simple, well-behaved problems to being useful entities in the real world, they must deal with the added complexity and uncertainty inherent in real environments. In particular, agents navigating through the real world can be confronted with incomplete or imperfect information (e.g. when prior maps are absent or incomplete), large state space...
متن کاملFormation Control and Path Planning of Two Robots for Tracking a Moving Target
This paper addresses the dynamic path planning for two mobile robots in unknownenvironment with obstacle avoidance and moving target tracking. These robots must form atriangle with moving target. The algorithm is composed of two parts. The first part of thealgorithm used for formation planning of the robots and a moving target. It generates thedesired position for the robots for the next step. ...
متن کاملPath Planning for Robotic Demining: Robust Sensor-based Coverage of Unstructured Environments and Probabilistic Methods
Demining and unexploded ordnance (UXO) clearance are extremely tedious and dangerous tasks. The use of robots bypasses the hazards and potentially increases the efficiency of both tasks. A first crucial step towards robotic mine/UXO clearance is to locate all the targets. This requires a path planner that generates a path to pass a detector over all points of a mine/UXO field, i.e., a planner t...
متن کاملRobust Path Planning in GPS-Denied Environments Using the Gaussian Augmented Markov Decision Process
As the field of autonomous robotics continues to mature, the ability for robots to operate reliably in the presence of noise and incomplete information is becoming increasingly critical. State estimation techniques such as the Kalman filter explicitly model sensor noise and incomplete information by computing a probability distribution over the possible states. The uncertainty of the posterior ...
