Flight Testing of an Airport Surface Guidance, Navigation, and Control System

چکیده
This document describes operations associated with a set of flight experiments and demonstrations using a Boeing757-200 (B-757) research aircraft as part of low visibility landing and surface operations (LVLASO) research activities. To support this experiment, the B-757 performed flight and taxi operations at the HartsfieldAtlanta International Airport (ATL) in Atlanta, GA. The B-757 was equipped with experimental displays that were designed to provide flight crews with sufficient information to enable safe, expedient surface operations in any weather condition down to a runway visual range (RVR) of 300 feet. In addition to flight deck displays and supporting equipment onboard the B-757, there was also a ground-based component of the system that provided for ground controller inputs and surveillance of airport surface movements. The integrated ground and airborne components resulted in a system that has the potential to significantly improve the safety and efficiency of airport surface movements particularly as weather conditions deteriorate. Several advanced technologies were employed to show the validity of the operational concept at a major airport facility, to validate flight simulation findings, and to assess each of the individual technologies’ performance in an airport environment. Results show that while the maturity of some of the technologies does not permit immediate implementation, the operational concept is valid and the performance is more than adequate in many areas.

Integrated fuzzy guidance law for high maneuvering targets based on proportional navigation guidance
An integrated fuzzy guidance (IFG) law for a surface to air homing missile is introduced. The introduced approach is a modification of the well-known proportional navigation guidance (PNG) law. The IFG law enables the missile to approach a high maneuvering target while trying to minimize control effort as well as miss-distance in a two-stage flight. In the first stage, while the missile is far ...

This paper presents a tuned behavior-based guidance algorithm for formation flight of quadrotors. The behavior-based approach provides the basis for the simultaneous realization of different behaviors such as leader following and obstacle avoidance for a group of agents; in our case they are quadcopters. In this paper optimization techniques are utilized to tune the parameters of a behavior-bas...

Against the range-dependent accuracy of the tracking radar measurements including range, elevation and bearing angles, a new hybrid adaptive Kalman filter is proposed to enhance the performance of the radar aided strapdown inertial navigation system (INS/Radar). This filter involves the concept of residual-based adaptive estimation and adaptive fading Kalman filter and tunes dynamically the fil...
متن کاملA Comprehensive Approach to Develop a Continuous Fuzzy Guidance Law for Maneuvering Targets
Based on the idea of Continuous Fuzzy Guidance Law (CFGL), a andldquo;three-phase fuzzy guidanceandrdquo; (TFG) law is proposed for the class of surface to air homing missiles. The current approach enables the guidance law to track a maneuvering target from the beginning of the launch phase up to the terminal one while itdynamically attempts to keep miss-distance, flight time and control effort...
متن کاملAirport Surface Movement – Performance Requirements & Navigation Algorithms
This paper derives the navigation system performance requirements for the guidance function under zero visibility conditions of an Advanced Surface Movement Guidance and Control System (ASMGCS), taking as basis the airport design requirements. The stringency of these requirements suggests that code-based Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) in stand-alone mode or augmented by Spaceor Grou...
