We present the first observation of the decay B → J/ψφK. Using 9.6 · 10 BB pairs collected with the CLEO detector, we have observed 10 fully reconstructed B → J/ψφK candidates, whereas the estimated mean background is 0.5 events. We obtained B(B → J/ψφK) = (8.8 −3.0(stat) ± 1.3(syst)) · 10 . This observation serves as the first conclusive evidence for the ss pair popping in the B meson decays. All quoted results are preliminary.

We present an update of the search for the lepton family number violating decay τ → μγ using a complete CLEO II data sample of 12.6 million τ+τ− pairs. The possibility of η ′ having a gluonic admixture is still not excluded. In fact, the anomalous coupling of gluonic component of η ′ may play an important role towards understanding the unexpectedly large branching ratio for B → η ′ X s reported by CLEO. We point out that the η ′ gluonic component may be as large as 26 % by analysing the latest experimental data.

We search for CP violating asymmetries in the charmless hadronic B meson decays to Kπ, K±π0, K0 Sπ , Kη, and ωπ. With the full CLEO II and CLEO II.V datasets statistical precision on ACP is in the range of ±0.12 to ±0.25 depending on the mode. All quoted results are preliminary.
